But they don’t appear to be threaded, at least the top two bolts for the seatbelts, right? Bonobo thread through the actual seat belt assembly, that’s no problem.

None on my bolt holes was threaded either. I used a battery powered impact and let the bolts make the threads. Actually worked good.

From start (removing seat delete) to finish with all rear seats and components installed and all trim pieces back in place was about 1 hour

Thanks 2020iconic. Had to chuckle at the video of the guy’s seat install. At least I got the belt thru the hole.

Does anyone have an idea why FP lists this kit as not compatible with 2021 models?

The new kits supply you with a new package tray w/ holes already in it and 3 bolts instead of push pins.
Including one for the floor pin which now requires a rivet nut to be installed.

RSD is once again listed at FR, now with a new part number, M-6346612-GT. Some minor changes to the kit along with the inclusion of a new parcel shelf, something that was not included in previous kits. Price isn't far off from the old kit either, last offered a few years ago.

Thanks for posting/starting this thread and adding this update with the instructions. It was a big help and the car is more appealing to me this way.

The project got off to a rough start on delivery day. See photos below. WTF. It was lost for a week and pretty trashed upon arrival. I was very close to refusing it. CJ Pony gave me a nice discount and I accepted as is. No real damage just dusty, no missing parts, but it was a shit show during delivery, acceptance, discount, etc. All good in the end.

The kit went in really nicely. I bypassed the rivnut tool and used the ol' nut, bolt, washer jig trick to set the rivnut. This kit is the FP OEM kit and it's fit and finish is perfect.

One thing that is irking me is the "No Passenger" sticker label was off center from the get go. The glue they use is like from an outer space symbiote. It's not coming off so I can't center it. I kind of wrinkled it attempting to remove it. Was going to shave/cut it off with a razor blade but quit while I was ahead. I might steam it, and press it with a flat circular object to get it to lay flat.

Other than that, this is a fun option. I was never really going to use these back seats anyway and I'm looking forward to that race feel and also having 1 Passenger max while also enjoying heated and cooled seats.

Thanks for everyone that contributed to this thread to give me the inspiration and confidence to make this happen.

2021 Mustangs have a sensor in the rear safety belt buckle. If you remove the buckle, you’ll get a persistent safety belt warning light in the dash. You’ll be fine as long as you don’t remove the safety belt buckle, just tuck them underneath the luggage cover - the big carpeted piece.

It would be interesting to see how the 2021 and 2022 CFTP cars fix that. Maybe a loop back plug at the sensor or forscan?

There’s a thread in the M1 forums. Doesn’t sound like there’s a fix yet - other than leaving the buckles.

Ok well, I was going to build a resistor trap since I’ve read that 2 ohms will prevent fault. However I checked resistance and it was much higher…doesn’t mean 2 ohm resistor wouldn’t work but I didn’t feel like wasting my time, if it didn’t.

I just took the oem sensor unit out the lower belt assembly and used it as a terminator. Easy peasy and worked like a charm. No seat belt faults and you could reassemble this if necessary in the future. Seemed like a better plan than just leaving the belt harness floating around….

Attaching images here in case this helps someone in the future. It would be nice if forscan could deal with this.

Nice! Is the sensor unit that whole wire with the plugs on both ends, or is the sensor just one end and you had to wire it? I haven't opened up a 22 yet.

The sensor is literally that black plastic chunk at the opposite end of the plug. However, this is exactly how it comes out of the seat belt assembly; no wiring required. Just plug it back in.

I was totally surprised when I saw these were now "smart" seat belt in this thing...wonder if this is why they raised prices in '22 lol. Anyway, in all fairness I noticed the FP install has the year disclaimer. Not a big deal overall.
