John it is very easy to do, but let me warn you it can make a gawd awful mess. As a simple garage type person, no lift, no proper catch cans etc. Stock up on rags and get a form-a-filter as mentioned earlier. I did not heed all the advice and spent a lot of time cleaning after the task.

edit: form a funnel, sorry

Although the manual specifies 11.5 quarts of oil, I added 12.0 quarts to bring it to the mid point of the identified range.

Same for me, it drank the whole 12 quarts to register correctly on the dip stick.

OK, first oil change is in the books. I dont thing it went too bad. I had a pair of homemade hand-me-down, wooden ramps. They worked pretty well. I could have used another inch and a half of clearance. I'm not 17 anymore and need a pinch more room to operate. I had a plastic throw away table cover from the dollar store. This kept most of the oil off the driveway. I need a larger catch container. The one I used stated that it would hold over 3 gallons. Not fully truthful. It did all fit, but another drop of oil would have sent it over the edge. Overall, I'd give myself 4 out of 5 stars.

It has to be the “SX” version to fit. I don’t think we need the extension. I just went with the one noted.
Ordered directly from: https://industrialtecsupply.com/ to make sure it was available.
Can get it from Amazon for a couple bucks cheaper. But they ship from the same place.
Why must you use the SX version? I am just now getting everything together for the first oil change and thought about getting a fumoto valve.

thanks

I concur with Don on the one that works. I just hope I never go airborne and come down on that valve. :-)
You airborne????:crackup::crackup::crackup:

The guy who doesn't want to use the "whole Track", the guy who got specialized instruction during Track Attack??? :):):)

Yep Jim, that's the guy. <grinning>

The "airborne" thing only came to mind after hearing a story from a local friend recently. I've never "cruised" but apparently, it's quite popular among the younger drivers these days.

Anyway, my friend in his '20 Scat Pack was cruising nice and easy and this Vette, (don't know the year or anything else,) was goading him on...DOWNTOWN. My buddy was having nothing to do with him and finally, the Vette got after it.

Unfortunately, he wasn't as familiar with that street as my buddy and he didn't know there was a "dip."

My friend said the guy hit it and the car launched into the air, ass high, and came down with a KA-BLAM! My friend said sparks were EVERYWHERE. But, the vehicle was apparently still drivable as the fella took off in embarrasment. :-)

It made me think of the Fumoto gadget I installed after Don's recommendation which sticks down JUST enough to be struck in a bonehead move like that. That would suck and I think about that darn thing a lot even though it's probably unnecessary.

Great story...I watched a friend many years ago do a similar thing with a 78 "Bandit Special" TA.

He was lucky and did not tear up anything, but he launched it. I was riding with another buddy in his Landcruiser.

The original Flying Mustang Shelby GT350. So, it could happen.

I have never owned a fumoto valve, ordered one yesterday (f107sx), and i am already worrying about it failing or getting knocked off by some freak accident.

No offense fellow worriers, but it is comforting to know that I'm not completely whacko. :-)
The key word is "completely"....:blush::blush::blush:
