that's tough because Mclarens are doing it but they weight a lot less. Sure I'll agree wit that. I can see low 10's most likely with some guy, somewhere, with the perfect conditions hitting a 9.99 1 time and claiming he ran 9's.
The 10spd GT is doing it. It would put the GT500 over 800whp

That's were the weight discussion comes in though. With a proper tune I'm running low to mid 10's but my car weighs 3800lbs. I still think low 10's easy and some 9's on the books.

With drag radials Redeye runs mid 10's without a dual clutch. Weigh's 200lbs more. I'm thinking high 9's for the GT500 with the right setup without much changed
Ill put that to the test. East coast DA and drag radials on the way, just in time for late October/early November

I still believe this car will run low 10's stock form. The DCT will get it off the line. Once she's rolling the physics will take over. I'm pretty sure Ford set the car up for this weight it has. I have faith that the car will perform flawlessly a a track or 1/4.

Then we will have what Ford Mustang has always been. A brutish MUSCLE CAR that can handle like a pure SPORT car.

Can you explain how the dct will get it off the line?

Especially to run low 10s? I have my reservations, DCTs are great for AWD launches, but 2wd and front engine will be difficult.

I’m praying though.

I don't know. I'm sure the car will handle well, will have high levels of adhesion and will go like hell in a straight line but I cant help but feel a bit disappointed.

I know the Mustang isn't a sportscar because by definition sportscars are usually light and nimble (maybe the closest we got to a somewhat light weight track oriented Mustang was the 2000 Cobra R at around 3500 pounds) but at well over 4000 pounds, it has become beyond acceptable for a car with handling and braking aspirations. Yes, I know, the numbers don't lie but they also don't tell the whole story. For example, will a car of this weight class be able to make quick transitions without upsetting the suspension balance in the same manner as a car weighing 7 to 800 pounds less? definitely not. Will the driver be able to throw it into a corner and correct for oversteer in a predictable manner. To an extent, yes, but not in the same manner as something weighing much less.

I'm just afraid that the Mustang is on an upwards trend of big power and big weight (by upsizing components to handle that power) I think Ford should have concentrated their collective efforts on further developing the GT350. Keep it naturally aspirated, work on extracting an additional 30 to 40 horsepower from the motor, and work at cutting out anywhere from 100 to 250 pounds from the car. That car, which I think Ford engineers are totally capable of producing, would be something to behold.

God bless America, all 8.4 liters -Randy Pobst
I just put both for a reference point. Because when Randy Pobst ran the ZL1 Auto and M6, the M6 was faster.
in the ZL1 1LE the auto is faster. Also Randy is a pro that can drive at 10/10ths and wring out the performance of the car. Id say the closes person on this forum that isnt a pro can probably wring out 8/10 maybe 9? So without a doubt the an auto or in this case the DCT (gt500) will be faster.
I could only imagine an ACR with a DCT and at least 700hp. Should best the Porsche GT2 RS times.

Only speculation, you need to post slips to prove what your car can do. None of this other car has the same setup as mine ordeal.

I think you have to look beyond just the curb weight. We are talking about 300lb more than a standard Mustang GT, but to me it's all muscle, not fat, if you look at what was added. The Nissan GT-R weighs around 4,000 lb and can zip around a road course (and the GT500 has 200+ more horsepower !)

I am not one bit shocked. I was thinking 4100 and 4000 to 3900 for the CFTP.

For when it really matters, I will be removing the battery and replacing with a lithium ion as well as install a track seat and remove the smoked grey bling. Ditch the tire inflator, and pull every bit of dead weight out that I can. I will be below 4000#

I think with CFTP, your probably right under 4100, before removing other things. the recaro's, the wheels, did u get tech package?

What battery are you planning on doing, and is it any good for daily driver duty?
