Tom: I also wondered about the 1320 product without a lid but, as Jaime and others pointed out, it obviously does the job so who knows? Guess you'd have to measure the air temp on both rigs to know the difference. I still can't decide.

I just looked at the two. The JLT has a true cold air intake, but the 1320 looks like a big ass filter that sucks in the hot air under the hood. Is that about right?
It now has an optional surround

Ehhhh.... pass on the WD125. I reached out and the price I was thrown was $515 shipped. JLT IS $350 shipped. I really cant believe that there is a difference of 40HP between two pipes of similar size and construction. I'm thinking there is a lot of hype in the comparison.

All this talk about cold air intakes has got me thinking about how air flows through the GT500 front end. The GT500 is designed so that a lot of air pass through the engine compartment to cool everything and create front end downforce. The car at speed has all this air being forced in the front and sucked out the hood.

If you have an open air intake what’s to keep all this air that’s going through the engine compartment from sucking air away from the air intake?

A friend of mine purchased a boss 302s when they came out. He installed an open cold air intake and thought it was down on power after the install. If you remember the 302s had 2 big openings in the hood.

He believed the hood openings were sucking air away from the open air filter.

In a static state on the dyno the open filter will flow more air and create more power however if the car in moving I’m not so sure.

It was a no brainer. Its the same technology between the two options and I was more willing to give my money to a site sponsor. Besides, I really dont give a rats ass about color coordinated intake tubes from a kit that looks like a garage parts special. Sorry, but I dont believe in the dyno delta between the two manufacturers. I would ask for independent verification of the 70 WHP boost before I bought in. Call me a skeptic, but I would believe in a more common sense boost of JLT over some garage parts special.

Id be happy to compare the two if there are any challenges. Just send me the kit, lol

You should include real world testing how about quarter mile runs with the different setups too.

Also, why does a Turbo require a tune when adding a CAI to avoid going rich vs. GT500 CAI and no tune?
