First time at the track today. It was in the light rain. But what an awesome time. The car is truly an amazing machine.

The Michelin’s I have on had fantastic grip in the wet track. We did allot of passing in the field. Porche gt3s, Ferraris, Mclaren’s. Crazy how this mustang can actually be dominate in the corners if you can drive.

can’t wait till this Sunday for another track day. Hopefully it will be dry.

my dad brought his gt500 CFTP out also. He only had 70 miles on it. Now he has 110 lmao.

Are those the Alpin PA4s? I just put them on mine as well, super impressed so far.
they are Michelin pilot sport 4S. I bought them for daily driving. But since it was raining I figured o would leave them on instead of switching to the cup 2s on the carbon wheels.

totally blow away on the grip. Crazy.

gotcha...it's a little colder here in Utah so went for winter tires, but the ride is super smooth still.

Based on your timely progress with your HEP R I suggest that you keep Wes Herlong in the loop as to how your car is coming along as I know that he would appreciate an update from you!

So finally got the roll bar done. After 3 days of work it’s finished. That was more work than I expected.

Had a delay with competition Motorsports because they forgot 3 major pieces of hardware. They forgot the tap set (luckily I had one) they forgot the 4 bolts for the kicker (had to go to Napa and get correct ones), and the most friggin important one, they forgot the carbide bit. It is damn near impossible to find anyone that carries carbide bits, so competition Motorsports has to overnight me the bit) That metal in the subfloor is insanely hard, it took me literally from 9-3 to drill 6 holes. And then the dang bit broke off. So I borrowed some snap on bits from my buddy and we managed to break through and get the last 2 done. And then today we got everything bolted in.

I have more pics now that it’s all buttoned up. I’ll post the finished pics once I get this car cleaned. It’s filthy in the back with all the work we did.

now I have to get the radio box in and wiring done for the communication system.

Things are coming together!

Just curious...I know you said its a dual purpose car but are you doing anything for extra cooling while on the track when you get the turbo system put in? Im just thinking you wont get a full session in or you wont be able to run a full day.

Im not an expert on this so I am just curious.

just not sure what it is that needs the additional cooling. People say it’s gonna get hot. But honestly. I’m not sure what’s gonna get hot. Engine, trans, diff.

we will see and then I’ll just have to deal with it.

I got an upgraded radiator. I got a heat Shield for the intake. If I need to meth to get charge temps down I can. But I don’t know exactly what’s gonna get to hot yet.

All of the above with the extra power and the loads you're putting into them. The other issue is that if it's not well ducted your air to air intercooler will reduce the effectiveness of the radiator as it will now be getting air that's already passed through one heat exchanger so will be even warmer than ambient. This can be a big challenge in the summer Florida heat. Following to see how you overcome these issues.

the plan is really Low boost for track setup. 5-6 psi.

I’m sure we are going to get higher temps. I will be opening the airflow up in the front grill area for sure. I’ve seen some ideas about adding cooling ducts to under the transmission.

the diff already has ducts.

ill be running some baselines now while everything is stock power. I’m gonna get the car on the dyno as well. Also will be data logging some track sessions as the temps get hotter this summer. My motor won’t be ready until around April. So that gives me time to get plenty of data on everything now.

I’ve never built a track car, only drag cars. So the heat is only an issue for 8-9 seconds. This is a whole new game so just going a little at a time.

I'm impressed you got grip in the rain, the stock cup 2 tires would be a death trap in the rain.

Speaking of heat I would 100% look at Aldo welds kit vs the hellion, the hellion is going to heat soak the engine bay like no tomorrow where having the turbos down by the oil pan would be way better for a track use car I would imagine. Especially air cooled turbos where you don't have the turbos cooking the engine oil.

He already mentioned he had the low mount Hellion kit.
