Installed a new plug. Made sure everything was all good to go. Ran the car tonight.
Made 9 laps. First 6 car was perfect. Then last 3 down on power again. No codes as of yet.

let the car cool. Ran it one more time. First lap felt it was down on power and check engine light came on. Scanned it and same code.

I’m guessing the sensor is bad, I’m going to replace all of them.

i also have the replacement harness I might go ahead and install that as well.

frustrating. I only have two more track days till daytona. Need to get this shit fixed

Ok harness is changed. I went ahead a threw a new alternator for shits and giggles. At least I’ll have a spare otherwise. ChNged the oil.

my dad rigged up a tester for the cam phasers, we sent power to each and they all click fine. Even tested when the car was hot on Sunday.

gonna run it tomorrow and see ifwe are good to go.

it’s a good thing I bought a set of backup carbon wheels. While I’m out of town my dad noticed this and sent me a pic. These are my personal carbon wheels that came on my 350R.

looks like an impact of some sort. This car doesn’t see the street anymore, it’s all track for the past 5/6 months. I believe it must have happened recently. But I don’t remember contacting anything that hard, I feel like I would remember something like that.

I spoke with Michael at Carbon Revolution at the Vegas location. He was nice enough to review the pictures and help me determine a next step. He gave me the info for Spyder Composites andsaid to talk with the owner Frank. He needs to see pictures and determine if it’s repairable. The look so far says it’s repairable. Which is good news.

I guess I need to keep another front and maybe another rear spare carbon wheel laying around.

I plan on some long distance racing with my dad and our rig. And I don’t want to be down at a track because I’m limited to one set of wheels and tires.

the lotus is my dads other fun track toy. We fit all three in the rig

Seems like an inside strike/damage. Gotta be a weird scenario to impact/scrape the inside face of the wheel (and only in that focused spot). Did you ever pass over an object on the road (putting it between your tires) or send it through a rail operated car wash or something?

it is a weird spot for damage. Im thinking I must have taken the inside of a corner to tight and dropped the wheel in the grass/dirt on the other side of the rumble strip and it caught in there. It’s weird. I think I would remember making a cut that tight, but I haven’t a clue.

my car never gets washed like that. It’s all done by hand everytime.

@honeybadger

I’m still out of town, my dad is running into an issue with the back connectors changing out the wiring harness. Any tips on reaching the back connectors? Do you remove the intake manifold to reach? I’ll be there tomorrow afternoon to help him. Just wondering if you got the best plan to get them done.

Thanks

yep. You’ll need to take the intake manifold off for access to those plugs on the back of the head. It’s not too bad if you do that.

Alright. First session at Daytona ever. Car ran great. No issues!

had some fun, my buddy Scott took leadto show my dad and I the lines.

pulled a 2:09.27 first session out.

my personal goal over the weekend is to get under a 2:05.00 I’ll call that excellent if I pull that off.

this track is a blast and I got to go 170 mph! Amazing time. And there are some beautiful cars out here

New harness, correct? Must be the sensors themselves. Man - this is giving me flashbacks before I did the VCT delete. Ugh

i changed all 4 sensors. And replaced the harness.

I’m gonna swap the alternator now. I’m completely at a loss.

starting to think I’m gonna VCT delete the MPR engine before I drop it in.

Damn. The only thing I can think of is that the solenoid was bad or the new harness has a short. That code is definitely specific to that cam and solenoid. Don’t think the alternator could affect it.

Rotten luck either way.

Any other issues? even ones that aren’t throwing codes
