I am hoping I can get some advice for this install.

I have a 2019 Mustang with the base radio which does not come with a CD player.
I am looking at replacing it with an Android GPS touchscreen/radio kit. The problem is, the aftermarket kit I want, comes with a cd/DVD slot built into the bezel. The instructions are based on connecting to a mustang radio with a CD player.

if I were to I buy a used OEM base radio and CD combination from another mustang would it be a simple plug and play install. Or is it more involved.

Thanks in advance for your advice and Happy New Year to Mustang 6g community.

Why down grade to a cd player? NONE of the '19s came with a cd player that I know of.

I understand the CD problem, I have a couple hundred pounds of them.

Burn the CD's to mp3's, Artist/album/song, add them to a thumb drive. A 128GB drive and program to burn the MP3's (and maybe a computer to do it on) is a hell of a lot cheaper than a new DOWNGRADED deck.

Just my opinion.

For what its worth, my 19 Premium has a cd player in it from the factory. Never use it but it is there.

As to the op, I had a Base PP GT for a while that I added the Sync display in. You can get all parts you need off of Ebay, you just have to hunt around for the bezel combo you are looking for since there a few different combinations that exist. So you can do what you are asking about.

The other step that may be needed (was required in my case) is using forscan to update a few parameters so the car knows how to communicate with the new configuration. I was able to add navigation and drive mode switches among other things after installing the display but I had to use forscan to make sure everything worked correctly.

There are few people that have posted up walkthroughs that should help if you end up doing it. The whole job probably took me about 2-3 hours.

My funds are limited so I am seeing if I can make this work inexpensively.

My 2020 came with a CD player. Though I don't use it a whole lot in my car, I still buy CDs, new and used. Physical media is still a thing for audiophiles (not that I consider myself an audiophile. Records were before my time, but I grew up listening to CDs, so it is a bit nostalgic.)

If I replace my existing base radio without a CD player, with a used oem radio with a CD player, is it just plug and play or is there more to it? IE:
do I have to get the dealer to change codes or something?
