James and Thomas take the new 2019 Ford Mustang EcoBoost and pit it against the Chevrolet Camaro 1LT. They are price-matched, and both four-cylinder turbocharged pony cars. They have comfort options and are both autos. The boys explore the cars driving dynamics and what they are like to live with every day. Can the Camaro's four-cylinder turbo entry compete with the icon that is the mustang? Exterior and interior styling comparisons help figure out which one takes it in the looks department, and the back roads do the rest.

I will agree the Camaro is better in the handling department, esp with the 1LE package. And also second the suck that is the Ford 10AT in !Normal mode. Ford really needs to revisit that shifting strategy and timing map.

Would be interesting if they compared the PP1 or even the HPP ecoboost since they're using the 1LT package. Without watching that video, I would expect the 1LT to outperform that premium mustang in virtually every category except visibility. Looks are subjective.

EDIT: OK after watching I guess the vehicle specs are more even. I didn't realize there was also an 1LE package available for the Camaro.

You do realize that this is 1LT not an LT1, right? 1LT is the vehicle trim level. It is standard with a 275 hp 2.0T. LT1 is an engine RPO code for the 6.2L 455 hp V8. The vehicle in the ThrottleHouse video is a 2.0T 1LT trim Camaro with RS package. Thank Chevrolet for making this way more confusing than it needs to be.

LT1 is also a trim level for 2020 it’s basically a bare bones Camaro with the lt1 engine but the v6 styling. I’m thinking it’s a move to prepare the Camaro to get the lt2 engine in the next years and still keep the lt1 as a cheaper option. Similar to dodge having the 6.4 and 5.7 both being V8 engines.

I mentioned in my edit that I was getting the package names confused so in the grand scheme, the comparison is fair.

Even reading your comment is confusing without the bold.

Also can't forget to throw in the 1LE, just to confuse everyone even more.

Actually, the “official” trim designation for that car is 1LZ. The LT1 on the fender is just to denote the engine under the hood is an LT1. Yup, not confusing at all.

So now we have 1LT, which does not have an LT1, unless it’s a 1LZ, not to be confused with a ZL1.

Rule of thumb....If it begins with an L, it’s describing an engine. If it begins with a 1, 2, or 3, it’s a trim. If it begins with a Z, it’s either a suspension option or a performance model. And for the record, Z28 and ZL1 both started as special order performance suspension options that just became models. Same with Z06 and ZR1.

Fantastic video!

Was happy to see the two compared, I was super curious beforehand.
Though I am also curious to how the PP on the stacks up against this and and even the non PP eco.

Great review. Throttle House is one of the few Youtube channels I actually enjoy these days. Quality content with no BS vlogging and clickbait.

Also, I can't believe how ugly that Camaro looks compared to the beautiful red Mustang. It's a shame because the Camaro was a good looking car before the facelift.

This review seems to follow their general theme throughout the product line. One likes the Mustang, the other Camaro for almost all the same reasons, regardless of model/trim.
