To buy a 2019 GT350 or 2014 GT500. Pros/Cons
I’ve always wanted the GT350, but with all the motor issues you hear about.... ugh. I’m really torn.. The 350 is current, new technology, sounds amazing, interior is nice, great suspension off the lot... but the motor has serious demons. I’ve dealt with motor demons with past cars and I don’t want it again
What about the 2014 GT500?
Produces gobs of power off the lot, sounds good, fewer motor issues, etc. What else? How’s the suspension?
What to do...?

You answered your own question. If you're afraid of potential motor issues, get the GT500. It's a different driving experience, but basically bulletproof. It's not nearly as good in the corners though, so be prepared for that.

Not to open up another GT350 engine failure discussion...heck I don't even own a GT350 (but almost bought one).
- yes, some engines have issues
- number of troubled engines appears to be higher than it actually is due to increased internet/forum visibility
- replacement engine outside of warranty is $$$
- extended warranty a must-have if you plan to keep long-term
- the two cars are very different I believe: GT500 - low end power, better for straight line, feels "raw"; GT350 - excellent handling, power comes in above 4k, unique sound/experience

I have a 2016 with coilovers, so I’m a bit spoiled with suspension now. I love the idea of 662hp and that the motor should be more reliable.... but good suspension is amazing! 😂 I’m wrestling with the pros and cons.

Yes, I may just be slightly biased...

I read about the engine issues before I purchased the 2020 GT350R HEP... I don’t regret it for a second... I purchased an (8) year extended warranty that probably cost me less then a clutch change... Still, it’s your decision... Do what’s right for you! Either way, it’s going to be a blast! 👍

This guy nailed it...!!!

The news/internet/forums exaggerates almost every bad news story.
You have heard of a "Complaint Department", but don't see a "Compliment Department".

Imagine turning on the news and you hear this:
"We have our reporter Steve at the airport."
"Thanks Jim, 645 planes landed today and everybody landed safely and got their luggage... back to you Jim."

But if it is a slow news day and a plane has a rough landing, Steve will find the most shaken up passenger, put a camera in her face, ask her how she feels about losing a puppy, then tells the camera man to start rolling.

If you haven't seen this, it is worth the watch (not a GT500, but a close comparison):

Get one of them and enjoy...!!!!!

That’s pretty damn awesome! I think the thing that gets me is I can’t mod it at all? Right? Because if the motor goes, it’s on me?

It depends on what you intend to do with the car. If you're a track rat, GT350 all day, by FAR the better handler. Street/strip, '14 GT500.

Your choice if all you're going to do is look at it in the garage and polish it.

As much as I do want gobs of power, I still want the best handling possible. So if I had to sacrifice 130hp, so be it.

My last car before this 17 Roush RS3 was a 13 GT500.
The 13 is raw, powerful, last of a breed, last Shelby that Carroll Shelby had any input on. 200+MPH, torquey, fast and fun, But,
could not put the power down, rough roads were a bear, but still a good car.
But I am very happy to make the change to my 17 Roush RS3 and it is modded a little bit and I do enjoy it more.
Would have liked to kept both, but could not. Just my opinion.

Just a little more input on the 2013 GT500.
I really did love that car. Had it 4 years and I bought it in late 2014, before the S550's came out.
For a long time Mustang guy, I always had a goal that someday, I had have a GT500, and this 13 just happened at the right time.
I think a lot of Mustang people have goals and one could be to have a GT500, The 13-14 were the top dog, at the time.
I could always get another 13 or 14 and not regret it.
They are special in their own right.
They really need 3:73 gears as the 3:31 are just too taller.
60MPH in first gear! That crazy.
