If you have a 2019 GT with the 10 speed trans can you tell me if your gear selector lights up at night? I just purchased a 2019 GTCS and when you put it in gear, it only tells you what gear your in on the dash. My 2018 GT PP1 car lit up at night on the gear selector to tell you if you were in P,D,R,S both on the dash and on the gear selector. According to my Ford service writer, he referred me to page 148 in the owners's manual but all it says is "The gear selection is displayed on the dash". Does not mention about being illuminated on the shiftier console.

The 10R80 console plate does illuminate at night, but thatā€™s all it does. It does not tell the driver which selection is chosen, itā€™s just illuminated (the same is true for the 2015-17 6R80 plate).

I have not heard of any others discussing the elimination of the lighted auto shifter plate in a 2019. Iā€™d be willing to bet that either the harness under the plate is loose, came unplugged or the light that illuminates the plate is defective. You can easily pull up that plate to inspect.

I took delivery of my MY19 A10 yesterday, and last night I noticed the same thing. Bit weird, might have to look into it further.

Interesting. I thought I noticed the same on my 2019. I just went a checked, and mine doesn't illuminate either. I pulled the trim piece to look. It looks like theres no wiring harness connected to it anymore. I didnt take the time to separate the silver piece from the black to see if there is any wiring still in the trim piece. I used the video below as reference for what the wiring looked like...

Well I stand corrected (for the 2019ā€™s) if Ford has eliminated the illumination from the 10R80 console plate!

Thatā€™s very interesting... I guess they are saving some costs there... lol

I'll have to check again, but my 2018 GT PP1 didn't seem to light up an indicator on the gear shift console panel, only on the dash. The gear indicators on the console are backlit, but nothing changes when I shift gears.

Do you know how to pull the plate up? Doesn't it have a couple of bolts holding it in? Mine does not even light up, its completely dark. My 2018 GT lit up and had the gear selection lit as well. Wonder why ford changed that?

Mine aren't even back lit. Mine are completely dark. I'm glad its not just my 2019. When I first bought my 2018 GT PP1 when I went to change the my colors, the only color that would work was white. Every other color was dark. They replaced my whole digital dash cluster. That is crazy how ford just changes shit like illumination on the shiftier console!!!!!

My 2016 lit up, but as Cobra Jet said, that's all it does--it doesn't indicate which gear is selected. I thought that was stupid, so I swapped mine out for a manual plate. It looks much better, IMHO.

Here's my 2018 GT Premium (and in D, in case that makes a difference):

Why are you looking down at the shifter? The gear indicator is right in front of you.
Its like habit when you shift into gear. You typically look down at the shiftier not at the dash. Just one of those things i'll have to get used to.

That's perfect! Why didn't Ford just do that? If its not important enough to illuminate it at night, why keep it for daylight? I might steal this idea. Where'd you get the part?

Iā€™d like to see someone in the aftermarket take that silver auto button selector (on the ball) and make a bare/plane replacement without the damn ā€œP, R, N, D, Sā€... too redundant.
