If there is a Boss 302, it will be part of the 55th Birthday Package and a Special Model.55th birthday?... the Mach 1 didn't appear till 1969 MY. 2019 would be its silver year.
The GT350 may continue past MY18, but it will be a Boss 302, I'll betcha.
Look at the car in the background... a silver B302, and by markings a 2013 MY. Why is this significant?... they didn't make a silver 2013 B302 and you're looking over the dash of an 18MY Mustang. The 50th anniversary B302 is coming and it will be a GT350 5.0L which could be a FPC or CPC configuration with DI.
I have wondered for some time about an explanation to the UAW contract note re a 5.2 Update. In addition to the Voodoo and Aluminator crate motors, with the recent change to CPC for GT4 and GT350 RS (or whatever its called), I assumed the 5.2 would live on as a CPC. Perhaps blown for a 500 or just a small displacement bump to the 5.0 for higher output. The 5.2L block manufacturing contract? Crate motors.
Now this statement is very un-official; the 2018 Ford Raptor will feature the 5.2 Liter, super charge, 700 horses engine.
I think you gotta read my post again... nowhere did I say a B302 would have a 5.2, as it wouldn't be a B302, right? If there is a Boss 302, it will be part of the 55th Birthday Package and a Special Model.
There will be no deviation in the GT lineup... it has always been GT>GT350>GT500 longterm.
What they do for birthday years is considered a "Special Model" and the Mustang is no stranger to those. A Boss 302 would not be equipped with a 5.2... it would require 5 liters.
After the GT350 get PDI (as reported), it will acquire more engine improvements as time goes on. The Voodoo 5.2 will ultimately be reduced to a 4.75x (289ci) while still retaining 525-550hp and 430-450tq due to equal exhaust manifolds, improvement in cam/valve/piston, PDI and with a reduced bore with PTWA, enlarged cooling channels. The engine will likely be the standard drivetrain for IMSA GT4. Rumor is they plan to reduce displacement again, below 5 liters.
The GT350 will probably continue into the S650 because the Mustang looks to be staying for another 5 years. A Boss 302 model could very well be in store to send the 5.0 off in style. It appears that these Birthday years will be used to revisit the Mustang past with SE.
It would be a Coyote 5.0 using GT350 suspension... no more than an R Package for the GT because conflict exist with the Mustang GTR.
Wonder why Ford hasn't implemented the change to Ford Performance here in Canuck country eh !Yeah that's not going to happen. Ford invested so much R&D for the 3.5 HO. Not only that but they're putting it in the new Navigator. Also, someone should tell that guy that SVT is no longer (hasn't been for a while now) and is now Ford Performance. So yeah, unofficial is right.
