Wow! I was hoping it was just a head gasket. So sorry to see that. Hopefully some of the more experienced racers who may have seen something like this before can be of help in determining what may have caused this type of failure. I know it’s way too early to think about this, but will you consider a CNC port job on the heads and a set of cams before going back together? I look at this type of situation as such; I’m here now, might as well improve as much as I can (as opposed to returning back to factory specs), since it would be a PITA to go back and do it later.

Keep your head up brother and may GOD bless you with a much better and more reliable setup moving forward.

Yeah, I think I will try to go as far as I can at this point. I certainly don't want to completely overbuild the car, but would like to be competitive and maximize what I have. I'll have to start putting a budget and build list together and determine what is feasible, nice to have, must have.

Appreciate the kind words and support!!

Ouch, and to think I thought about water jacket supports and decided against them since you have to drill the block. I might regret that decision looks like.... I would think sleeves would be on your must have list now.

Edit: must have "new block" lol

Thats crazy! Isn't this type of failure rare to non-existent on the gen 3 blocks? Wow!
Since this happened someone reached out and said they had two engines in the same day go this same way. So it's not too rare. 2018+ and 1,050whp+ is a dangerous combo. You could win or lose.

Sorry to hear man .
Pardon me if it’s a stupid question... but
would sleeves have prevented that ?

The Gen 3 coyote has the cylinder support brace built in right ?

I don’t think the supports would save a Gen 2 block from this .

So much for unsleeved Gen 3 blocks rated to 1200 hp .
I am assuming OP will be getting a sleeved one ?
May be a non sleeved “5.2” Predator /voodoo ?

Surprised one of the hits at the track cause this because it seems you were going easy. Could the engine have already been hurt?

Nothing from a maintenance or log perspective that says it was but it's possible.

I think so. But if the same scenario played out with only sleeves added and everything else still stock...I think it would have bent a rod or cracked the ring land.

At this power level you knew it was going to happen. You’ve went this far down the rabbit hole. So a few more bucks for a built motor is just the cost of admission. Me personally I can’t wait to see this thing with a built motor running 7s! You’ll be there soon.
