^ I always worry about that, I try to make sure I don't over do it with heavy tools in upper drawers. Glad the wifey was there to lend you a hand
I keep my sockets in the second to bottom drawer by the ground. I keep my power tools (drills, impacts, saws, etc) in the absolute bottom drawer. I keep my mallets and hammer in the middle wide shelf. Everything heavy is at the bottom. Here's a pro-tip tho. Even if they are at the bottom, if the drawers (the power tools one and the socket one) are open at the same time, the toolbox will fall on you and spill your beer.

Did some final steps in the garage today to get ready for a first start hopefully this week.
  • Shimmed and torqued the torque converter
  • Torqued the transmission cross-member bolts
  • Installed the starter and modified the electrical to work
  • Installed the o2 sensors and secured the wiring out of the way
  • Installed the exhaust system
  • Re-routed the transmission cooler lines further away from the exhaust
  • Wired the trans brake up to the right side steering wheel button
  • Put 4 quarts in the transmission

Congrats everyone! We have transmission movement. I got a tune this morning from Rob. Loaded it on the car. Car fired right up and the transmission engages first gear! ...and that was the end of my lunch break. I'll have to wait to get back to it after work.

So far so good!

Alright, I made a quick 3 hour round trip to pick up beer after work.. again, priorities!

I was able to warm the car up and fill the transmission. Ran it through the gears before putting it on the ground to drive the car back and forth in the garage. Everything is looking good for a test drive! 40s and sunny the next couple days. This is working out perfectly so far.

I bought an AEM transmission temp gauge used from a friend, will be here tmrw. No idea where to install it, but will help ensure I got heat in the trans for testing.

Transmission temperature gauge arrived and I crudely installed it (have a gauge mount on the way). Everything seems to be working well. Noticed some transmission fluid coming from the catch can. I need to pick up non-hex head bolts to get it addressed, something with an allen head. Hoping to get that done in the next couple days. Overall, going well. Working up to a test drive before snow falls next week.

More to come.

I was able to get to the hardware store to get new hardware for the transmission pan/catch can and that has solved the slow leak. Have an action packed day at work today but hoping to cruise the neighborhood tonight.

I redid the trans cooler lines today to make more room for the temp sensor switch. Liking the way it came together.

I got the catch can mounted in a new position vs on the transmission pan bolts. Quick modification to the can and now I can drop the pan without worrying about the catch can. Also wrapped the trans cooler lines in DEI heat wrap to protect them from the exhaust.

I'm still struggling on getting the transmission to the perfect fluid level. The Lokar dipstick is basically impossible to read. I'll just have to keep chipping away until I get it perfect.

In the meantime, I did take it out quickly to warm up the car as part of fluid level testing.

With help of Walter, @80FoxCoupe, and Jerod I was able to get a good reading on the transmission. We're in solid shape. I already have driving logs to send out to PBD. This has been a pretty smooth winter project. This will be the first spring I'm actually looking to be ready for.

If you are thinking of a th400 swap, it's really not that bad. Plan for some extra steps if you have a 2018+

Looking for someone that knows the wiring/schematic for 2018+ 10r80 reverse light and backup camera activation. I'm planning on using a micro switch on the shifter to turn these on. Would like to know what I'm up against. Anyone have experience with these circuits?
