Got the transmission test fitted tonight with the help of the wife. Pulled it back down to make some final clearance space for it. Also going to swap the trans cooler lines from straight fittings to 90 degree fittings. More to come.

Tonight I was able to get the hardware I needed for the transmission mount and driveshaft. Had to do some work on the pinion flange for the driveshaft to fit in. I swapped out the transmission catch can fitting from a straight fitting to a 90 degree. The 90 degree adapters for the transmission cooler lines come tomorrow. I'm having a tough time getting the proper bolts for the starter. I have none around that work and wasn't able to get the right ones after two visits now. May need to wait until the weekend. More to come.

Thanks to those that have stuck with me 🤠

I love the validation of going th400. Several built 10r80s breaking out there. Stangmode didn't even make a pass before his built 10r80 broke. One pass and done if you're lucky. Don't waste your money. Some day they'll be reliable, not yet.

I need to thank my wife for helping me get the th400 in the car tonight. It's in! Oh, in case you didn't know, angle grinding required

LOL ... I hear you . That’s why I now have 3 Of them .... thanks again for getting me a deal at LPF .
I have another one (800 miles ) that will be sent off to be built similarly when I get home.

The one in the car now is still kicking with just the clutches at about 900 whp (may be it’s already slipping based on my traps ) .

May be not as efficient as a TH400 swap but I will j have a “supply “ of ready built 10r80’s to swap in if needed untill the fix .

Now when my Tremec gear rowing days are over in my other car I know who to hit up for a parts list for the TH400 .

Great work again and congrats 🎈

You will have the world's supply of built 10r80s haha. You need to find a manufacturer to push into making upgraded hard parts. Once the 10r80 is solid, it'll be hard to beat.

Got a few things done today. Of course I won't know how well the execution is until the car runs and drives 😬:fingerscrossed:

Pulled the transmission pan to install the Lokar dipstick.

Had to redo the cooler line configuration I previously had to make room for the dipstick.

Got the shift linkage done and tested. Shifting well!

Finally I installed the transmission catch can

Next I'll be working on the converter shimming, just need some washers to finish it. Then I'll need to pull the pinion flange and replace it so I can get the driveshaft in.

More to come.

Very nice progress! Keep up the good work. How close are you to putting it on the ground and testing rolling back and forth?

Hoping to be ready for tuning updates this coming week. As long as that goes well, the car should be able to move under it's own power as soon as the end of the next week.

Always have your priorities set:

My toolbox fell on me. I was able to hold it together long enough for my wife to help me push it back up. Worst part is I spilled a 2020 Bourbon County in the process...boo!

In happier news, I got the pinion flange and driveshaft installed

1606607286551.png

Got the driveshaft loop done

Plumbed the transmission cooler

Celebrated the install by burning the transmission crate

Minus this piece that I saved

I got the converter spacers today. Need to get them in and add fluid. That's it. It's ready for the tune and a test.

^ I always worry about that, I try to make sure I don't over do it with heavy tools in upper drawers. Glad the wifey was there to lend you a hand
