Interesting. Carrying 2 automatic transmissions seems like an expensive endevour for ford. Maybe there will be a 2 year phaseout.
Maybe but if they have tons of extras left over they don't want to eat the cost and for some people the cheaper the better in a car. You'd think they'd leave the A6 auto in the V6 and use up whatever they have left.

Add in another $1000 for inflation and extra costs associated with DI and you'll have you're new base price. The 4cyl variants don't have as large of an engine change, so their prices will likely only increase due to inflation.
I already added that in.

Here is my 2018 build based on speculation.

$41,385 GTPP 400A (based off 2017 pricing)
$1,000 Premium for DI/PI & Inflation
$1,700 Magride (this is what it cost on camaro)
$1,000 Active Exhaust (pure guess)

$45,085 Predicted MSRP
$41,000 Predicted Purchase Price - way under the 50k everyone seems to claim

$2,500 Dealer installed Power Pack 3
$1,400 ~22lb wider wheels
$1,200 Nitto NT555 G2 285/305 tires
$1,300 CF driveshaft
$900 Wheel hop stop kit
-$1,000 Sell takeoff PP wheels & tires

$6,300 aftermarket to cut rotational mass, add about 40hp, bump redline by 700rpm, and tighten up the IRS.

$47,300 Total in my theoretical 2018 Modded GTPP ~490hp @ crank, 7500rpm redline, rubber that will grip like no other, on a diet, under warranty. I don't think I'm far off and I don't think that would be too bad at all. All the gt350's I've looked at are in the 65k range and they are going to go up in 2018 as well. That puts my theoretical build still 18k under a gt350.... Blower/TT money maybe????

It was in the system as an option. So that's what we're going on. And yes some people might not want that many gears. Could be a slow phase out till they run out of the 6 speeds.
The 10 speed AT is listed as an option, but the 6 speed AT is not. The base is the MT, so the 6 speed AT is not being offered in 2018.

Do you think that the Power Pack 3 will still be offered on the new, upgraded 5.0 with DI?

Not gonna happen in Detroit. Maybe next month in Chicago... or sooner.

Yes, I'm sure the tune would be different, maybe better with di. The gt350 IM & TB should still work.

Worse case, buy a gt350 im & tb for $1,100, get a custom tune, lose the warranty, save $1,400 and probably have 500+ crank hp.

There is going to be a ÂŁ600 price increase in the UK on Jan 20th. Considering our dealers know nothing of the 2018 model, I guess there'll be another rise when that comes out??

Just sayin........................

Ford has also, I don't get why people think this is so hard.

In 2005 Ford carried both the 4 speed auto (4R75) and the 5 speed auto (5R55S) for use in the Mustang, F150 etc...

FCA carries both the A5 transmission (for AWD police package hemi chargers) and the A8 transmission.

2004 Maxima as well had 2 transmissions. The SE had the 5 speed auto and the SL had the 4 speed auto. Although I don't see Ford having 2 different ones for the Mustang.

It's because the 5.0 isn't going to 4.8.

It was a rumor that caught fire due to stupid clickbait websites spreading it around and then it got "validity" because Car and Driver stupidly passed it on.
well damn i have been seeing that all over the internet that ford going to a 4.8 V8 come find out it's lie well i hope ford bumps up the HP cause 435hp not getting it done now days :frusty:
