Hello all! I have a 2018 mustang GT ,I'm looking at replacing all 4 vvt sensors, I have the new gaskets but wasn't sure about the whole process, I get having to take the valve covers off to replace the gaskets, but heard it may be possible to change the sensors without a new gasket beinf placed in.

what are yall thoughts?

Or how would you go about changing the gaskets and all the right way?

No one video really goes in depth with it.

Do you mean the Vct solenoids ? You likely don't need new valve cover seals but they are not expensive either and leaking valve covers are a mess.

I take it your talking about the VVT/VCT solenoids? Are you getting a cel fault code or light? I would buy new valve cover gaskets for replacing them if they start to leak after you replace the solenoids does take some time.

They are below the valve covers. I think the solenoid bolts have rubber seals also. Since you have a 18, the passenger side takes a little more time to remove due to the DI pump. Good luck

Yeah the vct bolts have seals on them so one needs to make sure the original bolts come out with them. OP has new seals, might as well use them.

@Bobthebuilder35 you got any error codes?

Does the OP have CEL fault codes? Just wondering why they are replacing all 4.

Is that not an O2 sensor complaining at the cat not working?

the sensor in the catalytic converter located in bank 2 has detected the catalytic converter's efficiency below the threshold.
The symptoms and the code were the same last time, so i thought it would be the vvt sensors

It had one changed in the past, its showing the same symptoms again with ap0430 code again
They can be cleaned and checked, but as much time it takes to replace, I would change all of them to BUT; With Ford Only Parts. Through my past experience, their are some parts, VVT phasers, VVT solenoid valves, sensors etc. I would not use autozone on those parts, but that's just me. Good Luck
