I can't speak for the digital gauge, but the analog gauge is a little "fuzzy" as to where the red line might actually be. The red line appears to start at 7400 rpm, but there is a gray shaded area combined with a different cross hatch marking between 7400 and 7500. At 7500 rpm, the gray shaded area stops and the cross hatch marking changes to a more filled in pattern. So, does this indicate a "soft" red line at 7400 and "hard" red line is actually 7500?

^^^^Wouldn't you think if the redline was 7500rpm, they’d just mark the redline at 7500?

The red “line” starts at 7400, so that’s clearly the “redline”.

Fords own software cuts the fuel/ignition at or slightly before 7400, so the “hard” redline is there.

Use your eyes.

The red line on your tach is at 7400 rpm.
No shit. I'm talking about fuel cut. I believe the engineers when they say 7500 since I've seen my car shift at that and even a little higher at times. Regardless, you're literally the only one losing sleep over this, so believe whatever you want.

Peace

The redline on the tach isn't meaningless, it's there as an alert that speeds over that point could damage the engine. Your Lightning motor wouldn't spin at 7K all day, of that I'm 100% certain.

Yes, in the carb days the odd limiter existed, I'm well aware.

The only people who seem willing to die on the hill of a 7500rpm redline work at Ford.....they're the ones that carpeted the internet with the bogus claim.
Did I say my lightnings motor was stock? Plenty of built 5.4's spinning 7k.

You can see on the 18s that the shaded zone actually starts before 7400, as a warning zone.

Unless my tach is quite a bit off, there is no cut even close to 7400. I've seen 7700 on two separate occasions. I'm going to unmarry my X4 from my F150 and see what it shows when my tach shows 7700. I can't believe the tach would be that far off though.

FWIW, here's what I mean with the gauge. there is a soft line @ 7200, and to me that redline is 7500

Plenty of cats land on their feet. Talented cats also irrelevant.

The red line on every other 2018 GT Mustang starts at 7400, yours isn't any different.

So if I am reading that right, there is a base cutoff of 7500, but the cut off changes based on engine temp?

So, the redline, of the engine, not the bullshit on the dash is 7500? Sweet
