I would not feel comfortable modifying or putting an different air bag assembly. Even if it plugs in, it might not be compatible. This could possibly cause it to inflate for no reason or not inflate when needed. To me it's not worth it.
Exactly. Just because you might be able to do something doesn't mean you should. Taking a risk with an airbag is something you should not do.

CJ has GT350R 18-19 wheel at $699, other places at $570-ish - is that the current price for it ? Did it go up for some reason ?

Ford did raise their prices a while back. At this point it might be prudent to wait for the Black Friday sales.

Installed the 350R wheel few weeks back. The airbag removal was a royal PITA. I almost gave up but got lucky and happened to come across a colleague who works on steering modules - he gave me a tool which made it a breeze. Once the airbag was removed, it was so easy. As mentioned in multiple videos, I tried with 3mm and 4mm Allen key but didn't work. FYI if anyone has trouble, a tool like this would work best

I purchased it at 449. It looks great and matches my Showstopper Red interior perfectly and also love the darker trim around the buttons. But i feel it isn't worth the price, i was disappointed with the quality. The red stitching peeling off in few places, leather (lower bottom) damaged in few spots. Noticed these defects just after few days of use.
Thanks for your reply krishelnino,

Congrats for your new steering wheel :)
I could see that you're not happy with the quality of it ? Are you sure that you have purchased an OEM part from an authorized dealer ? or was it a second hand ? mine are holding up pretty well so far !
Good luck anyways,

What I'm saying is you would retain all of your stock components...Airbag, assembly, wiring, buttons, even counterweight like you would with a non Ford steering wheel. The install video of the SVE x550 steering wheel shows exactly what I mean.

I say all of this because the price of the new 18-19 GT350 steering wheels are $700...$350 more than they were brand new for the 15-17 models, when the only difference is the airbag clips....that clip warrants a $350 price increase?

So if you move all your stock wiring over like shown in this video, why wouldn't you be able to use a 15-17 GT350 or aftermarket steering wheel for that matter on your 18-19 since you use all of your stock components?

Do you know if the wiring harness from the 2017 wheel will fit/work with the clock spring from you 2019? If not you can swap the clock springs if the 2017 spring will work in the 2019 column.

Ford uses the same Clock Spring for all 15-19 Mustangs, Fusions, Edge and Lincolns

OK, no issue there. Here’s another one.......will your 2019 car properly read the 2017 airbag?
You wouldn't use a different airbag. The same stock airbag coming off the stock 19 steering wheel would be put on the replacement steering wheel, just like you would with a 19 GT350 steering wheel. The only thing NOT 2019 would be the steering wheel itself which at that point would just be the frame like the pic here for example.

But the 2019 airbag will not fit on the 2017 wheel. What am I missing?

Welp...that answers that...I just dont see why these placement differences warrant a 200% price increase by Ford smh
Yeah, unfortunately Ford recently raised their prices on these wheels. Hopefully you can get a Black Friday deal in the next few weeks. Good luck!

That price increase is nuts. I had no idea it went up so much. I paid $270 for my 2018 GT350 wheel brand new not even a year ago.

If you think that's expensive they are now asking $1100 Aus here for them , the jumped $400 in a day from one of the local suppliers. What is the cost in USD in America to you guys. I'm thinking of biting the bullet with CJPP before they rise too much again.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

They're $700 USD on CJPP... Back in 2017 I got my GT350 wheel for my 16 Ecoboost for $350
