Hi all, new here but have been ghost following for a few weeks. I just purchased a new to me 2018 base GT A10. So far it is a great car, and naturally I have taken it to the track a few times. Personal bests so far are 12.35 @ 116 on stock 235 street tires (1.98 60') and then a friend of mine loaned me a set of drag radials (305-45-17 ET Street R) and it ran 12.13 @ 117.9 (1.90 60'). I have since purchased a set of my own track wheels and tires (275-40-17 ET Street R). Hopefully since the set I bought are a little shorter, it will 60' better and put me in the 11's. I have read a lot of the threads on here about people running 11s on a shorter tire so I am excited to try it out.

Here is a pic of my car on the wheels and tires that were loaned, but I thought it was a good pic. I will be leaving the stock front wheels on it for a little while until I source a set of front skinnies and tires. You guys have provided a lot of insight for me so I am looking forward to seeing what happens! I am heading to the track this Saturday and will update with results once the day is over.

Updated post with screen shot of time slip.

12.3s, 12.1s. Nice #s. You've got to be happy with that. I foresee you doing more than drag radials in the future. You know how it goes. 😁

You've got me wanting to test my stock 18 auto now.

I'm curious if all cars are created equal. This 2018 I have feels faster than 2 other 19s I have/had.

Anyone want to chime in on some GTs being quicker than others from the factory? My convertible feels slower I'm sure because of weight. My former PP2 felt a bit slower too. Maybe it was the wide heavy tires and manual.

I ran 11.92/118 with my GT A10 Bone stock, Only thing I did was lower the tire pressure to 22 on the P zeros.

Oh yes I am sure the mod list will be more than just a tune, and I am looking forward to it!

That is very respectable! Especially on street tires. Gives me hope to go maybe a little quicker than 11.9.

Good luck man…. Really interested in how the (275-40-17 ET Street R) tire helps out …. I’m looking at that same wheel/tire combo. I also have the 3.15 gears

This seems to be about as good of a run as anyone has reported with a stock car.

How did you launch it? Transmission in D or S? Drive mode normal, sport plus, track or drag mode? Launch RPM? Ease into the gas or mash it?

Trans in drive, TC off, Drag mode, 1200-1500rpm, 22psi in the P zeros, Mash on 3rd amber. And I weighed 340#, so that didn't help.

Well, Saturday was a good day, but no 11s unfortunately. DA started out at about 1000ft and rose to about 1500ft by the end of our race day. Car ran well and was very consistent. I had removed the passenger and rear seats and the trunk carpet in effort to reduce some weight. I also unplugged the connector by the air box to turn off all the nannies for the day. It disabled the line lock so I did burnouts via foot brake. The 60" improved slightly, not as much as I had hoped. I'm not sure if there is a torque limiter in the factory tune or not. I also tried to air up the drag radials in effort to get them to slip a little bit, but no luck there either. Ended up with 29psi in them on the last pass and it still dead hooked. I was foot braking to around 2000rpm and leaving in first gear. The time slip below was my second and best pass of the day, with the rest of the passes ranging from 12.05-12.10. It still picked up about a tenth on average over the 305-45-17 tires (ran 12.13@ 117.9 at 65ft DA) I will try again on a day with some better air and see if we can't get it there! Car TL97.

They did a little bit, about .05 on average. Before my personal best was a 1.90 60' on the 28s, it went 1.85 60' on the 26s. Yes these runs were on the stock front wheels and tires.

Going to be giving it another go this weekend. Full interior this time. Not expecting any different results, I just enjoy going to the track and participating. Pairing up with competition is fun too. It looks like the DA will be around 850ft during the "heat" of the day which is a little better than it was last time out. It may surprise me but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Yea it’s all about having fun and learning how the car reactions to different race situations, I used to get all worked up about running a number, then not getting there… just have fun and be safe.
