I thought I saw a post showing the gear ratios on a 2018 V8 manual, do you know where that post is, or does anyone know what they are compared to the 2015/2016 models?

Idk if the above values are correct. They are what are shown in the '18 information, but are also the exact same as the current gear ratios. The literature for the 18 says it has a steeper first gear and 2 overdrives so idk.

Those are the current MT-82 ratios.

Think about the side effects of a lower (i.e. steeper) first gear and a taller 5th gear (current is 1:1).

The only way to do this is to make the spread between one or more of the remaining gears bigger. This usually is not the fastest approach for a "do everything" set of ratios.

Conversely the 10A does both. Because it can shift so quickly the extra time shifting is a non issue.

Exactly right. So far, nobody has been able to come up with a definitive answer.

Yea the information is sorely lacking. I can't imagine they're still making changes at this point; so what's the hold up?

I "chatted" with Ford Performance this morning and asked for the new ratios. They said they don't have access to the information until the car is "introduced."

I find six gears too many in a big V8. Either go for lots of gears in a modern automatic or stick to 4 and learn how to drive. Six is for namby pamby won't redline wimps.

Some of us regularly see redline when it makes sense, but we'd rather not drive on the highway at 6000RPM and have to stop every 100 miles for gas. :D

The 6 speed has nothing to do with redline wimps. It has everything to do with CAFE standards and improved mileage. In the 80s, a 5 speed had 4th gear at 1:1 and 5th was .7x:1 (or .6x:1). Today, the 5th gear is 1:1 and 6th is the .6x:!. So, all they did was add another gear between 1 and 4 to keep the RPMs lower between shifts and improve gas mileage.
