This is a little off topic but thought I would post in this thread since it has been touched on here regarding the bypass valve.

I broke out my trusty Mighty Vac and applied some vacuum to the actuator. Here is what happened.

Where do you suppose aftermarket tunes are finding power over the whipple cal? I’ve logged my whipple cal quite a bit. It runs the timing at the threshold of detonation, limited to 18 deg max (but you won’t typically get there without octane booster or race gas), so it looks like there isn’t much opportunity for more ignition timing. The a/f ratio starts around 11.5 but toggles richer for cat protect. The only thing left is cam timing correct? Do we think whipple isn’t optimizing cam timing?

Fwiw, olasaunt made several 138 mph passes on the whipple cal, 3.625 pulley, and octane booster with no other mods. Do we think it would have gone much quicker on the same fuel but an aftermarket cal?

I dont know all the variables but i was told you dont get as much out of the 18+ it like the 15 to 17. I've been told 30whp compared to 50+whp. Now maybe the drive ability and shifting is way better idk. But as far as HP it's not to crazy with just tune.

For sure! Thanks. Love the input.
OP sorry I should have been more detailed. What I meant was with your setup, winter blend, and mustang dyno your numbers look good. However you mostly are pulling some timing. So you can put some boostane or what ever additive you want. Best way is to data log to see if or how much timing is being pulled. But like I said before your not down 100whp. I'm thinking 40 to 60. Please update if you dyno and log again.

I wonder too . Whipple says every degree of timing is worth about 25 hp but my PBD 93 tune (never ran it ) had even less than the whipple 93 tune .

My car trapped about the same as a Lund tuned car on 93 but with a bigger 3.875 pulley although he also had long tubes .

It’s kind of hard to believe but the car below must be making at least 800 rwhp with that trap...and a still a bigger pulley .He did say he added a can of octanium and was seeing 20 degrees of timing.

Damn that's moving. Think about it 1psi is what 20 to 25whp? LTH 30whp plus 2 degrees added timing is 50whp so you should be 100whp over whipple tune 3.875 car. So I'm thinking that's doable. I cant wait to my car. I got everything sitting in the garage.

Car was pulling timing because it should have been making more power all the way up. Your numbers aren't bad, just not enough octane.

That does seem low. Mine a couple of months ago made 744 on 93 with the 3.875 pulley, but I have a Lund tune. On a Mustang dyno it made 740.

698 on 93 with 3.875 pulley on a Lund tune and catless LTH's on an eddy current dyno.

How did she do ?
Unfortunately, the tune was not complete and put my car in some sort of limp mode.

Whipple says this is the first time they have seen this issue on an 18'

I was supposed to put the car on a shipping truck today but, it won't even start :(

Wow that sucks man. Whipple will take care of you. They stand behind their product 100% and will make things right. Best of luck to you and your build.
