Gearing up (pun intended) for another battle with Ford.

Are there any newer TSB's for 22-2139? *harsh downshifts.
-They overhauled my valve body once already. Slight improvement.

Are there any other TSB's that could apply?

Is there a TSB for a hissing/whining noise while stopped? This has become an issue since the initial overhaul. *still going though this thread*

Phil, since your thread is 4 years old, why not edit post #1 with the links in #74?
(And any other pertinent ones.)
Good suggestion! Check it now, good? :) I don't want to get too far off key from the TSB/SSM subject matter that is to be posted in here.

For the S550, the most current TSB is 22-2139, nothing new (yet):

Yes.
We need a lot more of that in the forums.
Thanks.

So I'm currently waiting for the dealer to call me to make an appointment ( I already know my hardware is in to correct my alignment issue) and this morning on the way to work I had some extremely harsh 4-5 gear shifts in the car. After it happened the first time I immediately paid attention to what gear it was happening in. I was going uphill at the time so thought maybe it was from that, nope, soon as I got on flat ground did it again in sport+. Swapped to track and same thing extremely harsh 4-5 shift and was surprised i didn't hear a clunk. Soon as I did my uturn to scoot up the road to my parking area at work I swapped to drag and it was buttery smooth. Only mode I did not try after I noticed it was normal mode.

I don't recall if this was an indication of low fluid or not so thought I'd double check. Was gunna have them check it when I go in for my alignment correction. Trans temp was around 150 degrees when this was happening so just shy of "normal" operating temp.

it is not recommended to drive the car in such condition, have it checked

What the P0771 code means
A P0771 code means that there is a problem with the shift solenoid E in the automatic transmission. Your car’s transmission uses solenoids to automatically adjust the flow of transmission fluid to match driving needs and ensure smooth shifting. The problem can be due to electrical issues with the solenoid, or it could be contamination of the solenoid itself causing it to stick.

What causes the P0771 code?
Code P0771 can be caused by many different factors, including the following:

Most recent S550 10R80 TSB 22-2339 as of September 2022:

Manufacturer Communication Number: TSB 22-2339

Summary

Some 2018-2021 Expedition/Navigator, 2018-2020 F-150/Mustang and 2019-2021 Ranger vehicles equipped with a 10R80 automatic transmission may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P163E stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) or transmission control module (TCM) after replacing the main control valve body. This may be due to software incompatibility between the replacement main control valve body solenoid strategy file and the PCM/TCM software. To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to enter only the 13-digit solenoid body strategy when downloading transmission strategy.
If anyone has any additional info on this one please post up.

Phil, will you consider posting all the A10 TSB hyperlinks in Post #1?

Also, have you seen anything about "6-7 Upshift Inhibit"? This is what we get on track with our A10's: Trying to upshift at redline from 6th to 7th at around 115mph. To get around the problem we shift at 6500rpm.

Roush put out TSB 21-0525. Wondering if Ford has an equivalent, or if this might even be a re-badged Ford TSB.

NHTSA Safety Recall: 23S06
NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V-070
Posted as of Feb. 10, 2023.

For: 2022-2023 S550's (and other select Ford vehicles) with 10R80.

*** This does not affect ALL 2022-2023 S550's, only a select batch. Read BOTH docs.

Problem:
Loose internal bolt that could block internal pawl for "PARK", allowing vehicle to roll. Repair is to replace transmission.

Remedy:
Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the transmissions, free of charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed February 27, 2023. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford’s number for this recall is 23S06.

My 2019 is at the dealer right now to be checked. In the morning putting it in reverse it slams into gear. Some mornings after backing out and putting it in Drive it delays like I hit neutral. Evenings after coming from my office 25 miles away, mostly highway driving with transmission up to operating temp and then stopping at the mail box to grab mail, put it in Drive and acts again like I put it in neutral and car doesn't move eventually slamming into gear again.

So from that report, it sounds like they’re certain there’s only 27 mustangs affected with this issue? Or am I reading something wrong?

SSM # 51236 released Dec. 2022:
307465EF-D62A-4BA6-8EB8-14FB06E24882.jpeg

yep - you read that right... the "buck/jerk" sensation in 8th through 10th gear from S550 10R80 is a completely "normal characteristic"....

Be prepared, Service Centers may interpret that message as being the "jerk/buck" is "normal" in ANY gear; they'll gloss over the facts in that SSM and try to push off Customers not in the know with the "it's normal" lip service....
