Newest 10R80 TSB 21-2315 just released Sept. 28, 2021 related to Harsh/Delayed shifts
Thank you for the information! I took my 2018 Mustang GT into the dealership and noted the TSB. The weird thing is the service paperwork reports they "performed TSB 21-2357, reset transmission table, reprogrammed transmission characteristics, and performed adaptive relearn road test." That seems to match the description of TSB 21-2315 but I could not find TSB 21-2357 anywhere. Nonetheless, the car is shifting much better. I saw a post on the F-150 forum about TSB 21-2357. Anyone else seen TSB 21-2357?

Since you seem to be a 10R80 expert do you know if my car falls under this or something else?

Usually when I'm heading out for the first time in the morning and my transmission goes into 5th for the first time it tends to hang there way longer than it needs to and when it does shift it feels harsh.

It also does make some slightly annoying high pitched noises while I'm idling/creeping into my garage but my local dealership said that was fine. My built date is 03-June-2020 so it doesn't all under the TSBs you posted earlier.

The most recent 10R80 TSB 21-2315 applies to all 2018-2021 Ford Mustangs (along with some other Ford models) equipped with the 10R80. There isn’t any VIN listing or date ranges of production listed within the TSB.

If you’re experiencing harsh shifts, when you go to the Service Center do 2 things:

1) Ask the Service Writer to go on a test drive with you or if a Shop Foreman/Tech can go if the Service Writer cannot. You drive and take the car onto a good stretch of road where you can demo the issue to them. Then pull over and have the Tech drive the car back to the shop and see if they can confirm the harshness.

2) Print a copy of the TSB and bring it with you. After the test drive ask that they perform the actions in the TSB and give them a copy of it.

Thanks 👍

My issue is moaning noise before upshifts and sometimes downshifts.

Ford states, a small amount of whine noise is considered to be characteristic of the 10R80 transmission due to the offset gear drivetrain in the front support and has no effect on durability. The transmission pump makes this sound as pressure increases with rotational speed. This occurs while stationary and increases as the vehicle accelerates. A clogged transmission filter creates a similar sound to a whining pump. If the vehicle is low on transmission fluid, it can also cause a whining sound, accompanied by gear shifting problems and other habitual issues.

This is more of a moaning/groaning and only happens right before a shift. Only about a second. Not speed related and not stationary. Cars seems to shift fine, just concerned it might be hurting itself. Could be normal, but i guess i'll have to drop off at dealership for them to diagnose.

Took mine in because when I shift into drive from park it jumps to a point that the brakes have a hard time keeping her stationary. They said it is covered on a TSB. Parts are on back order and they expect it will be about a month before they will be able to the parts. Bummer

Mine is all fixed and feels like a new car. Got her back on Weds. OMG what a difference. It must have had those issues for day one and I just thought it was normal. If you 10 speed jerks when you put it in gear or seams to shift harsh then take it in.
