Did they repair it or replace the whole unit? Any other damage?
Sorry, Dusten. I didn't get a notice of your question in my email. They repaired it per the SSM, which meant replacing the entire front support assembly. They cleaned it; changed filter; and, put new fluid in it. They also had to reprogram it. My car had a custom tune, so I had to revert back to my stock tune in order for them to be able to be able to access everything in the ECU. Works better than new now. Since that repair, I've supercharged it making 691 to the rear wheels on 91. She's holding up just fine...

Did warranty cover it? Im experiencing the exact same issues with my early 18gt. I only ask as I have longtubes on my car, which is the only mod currently. No way I am taking those off lol. It had a tune on it but I returned it back to factory. I know every dealer handles warranty claims differently.

At the time of my repair, the car had long tubes, a PMAS and E70 tune. The dealer had no problem repairing it, but they had to have the stock tune in it to be able to retune the 10r80. So, I ran out all of the E70 in favor of 91 and removed the PMAS. Then, I loaded the stock tune and took it to the dealer for the repair. The Tech was actually glad it had long tubes, as it made the repair easier and quicker. After the repair, I reinstalled the PMAS and switched back to E70 with the proper tune and all was well again. Hope this helps. Good luck...

Bad news for me, I had returned my car to the stock tune but the dealer said they are still unable to get into the computer and check codes and that they are out. Not really sure what I can do at this point.

For the people with the whine noise coming from the trans, ford released this in March. My 2020 GT is going into the shop when the parts come in to get repaired

TSB 20-2198

Summary
August 25 2020
This article supersedes TSB 20-2083 to update the vehicle model years affected.

Issue: Some 2019-2020 Ranger and 2020 F-150/Mustang vehicles equipped with a 10R80 transmission and built on 21-Oct-2019 and through 16-Dec-2019 may exhibit a high-pitched whine coming from the transmission at low speeds during light acceleration or coasting. This may be due to the outer output shaft bearing.

To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to replace the transmission inner output shaft bearing, fluid passage sleeve and outer output shaft bearing.

See attached.

This sounds like what I have going on but mine is a 2015. I am going to try to replicate, and see if it presents in Neutral (I think it does). In any case though, not sure the TSB can do much for me.

2015-2017 S550’s equipped with an automatic transmission had the 6-speed 6R80.

All Docs in this thread will only pertain to the 2018+ S550’s equipped with the 10-speed 10R80 automatic transmission.

While it’s possible a 6R80 could have similar operational issues or noises, it has no relation to a 10R80 from a diagnostic or repair aspect. Ford Service Centers also will not reference 10R80 TSB/SSM’s for a 6R80 diagnosis. Post up in the Transmission & Drivetrain sub-forum and see if someone knows off any 2015-17 S550 TSB/SSM 6R80 docs or can assist you better with 6R80 specific support.

So i have been experiencing a moaning vice whining noise from my 19 GT PP1 wth 10R80. Its random and only last about 1 second. It happens whether the car is cold or hot. Seems to happen when car shifts, but can't confirm since its not all the time. Sometimes i can induce by using paddles to downshift/upshift. Doesn't appear to have any shifting or performance problems. Took it to a transmission shop(friend) and they could not diagnose because of radomnise and said these trans make a lot of noises. Car has not thrown any codes and is still under warranty. Local dealer says he doesn't have a transmission expert, so i wanted to go in armed with info.

Thanks to @mejohn50 for this TSB! He was experiencing a clunk with his 10R80.
https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/10r80-clunk-noise.164619/

The "clunk noise" was corrected per his Service Center being given direction to use repair directions found in Ford TSB 20-2253, which is not transmission specific and applies to the 2018-2020 Navigator/Expedition. The TSB seems to work for the 10R80 too.
