This is really the engine the EB Mustang should have had in it.

It used to be that heavy horsepower and torque figures demanded an absurd premium. The days of 350-horsepower Chevrolet Corvettes and Porsche 911s are long gone, and the new Ford Fusion Sport is the latest example of that fact. Stats? 325 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque (on 93 octane). From a Fusion.

Yes, the Fusion is finally worthy of its Sport badging, thanks to its 2.7-liter, twin-turbocharged V6. That's five more horsepower and 50 more pound-feet than a BMW 340i. And it's a hell of a lot more than the naturally aspirated V6 from the Toyota Camry SE or turbocharged fours of the Hyundai Sonata and Kia Optima. Unlike its mainstream competition, Ford paired the Fusion's six-speed automatic transmission to a standard all-wheel-drive system, so it should be easy to put all that power down. Ford hasn't published performance figures yet, but if the Fusion Sport takes more than around five seconds to hit 60, it'd shock us.

I'd dig the hell out of a Fusion Sport..too bad they're likely going to be nearly $37,000

Edit: I meant $35,000

This car is going to be a terror when modified..hopefully the AWD system holds up to higher HP figures because just a tune will put this at 375 AWD HP...

If MSRP at $35k you pro get aroung $30-$32k max.
Wonder a tune with intake, intercooler can get this v6 2.7 TT to 450 - 500 rwhp, that would badass

It's a pretty bad ass car...AWD and that HP/TQ. And you're right you could easily get it down to $30.

Makes me wonder if we'll see this in the Mustang in '17.

This car is awesome. That being said, the Mustang did not need this motor. The 2.3 EB competes perfectly in its class and has proven to take well to mods. When the class progresses Ford obviously has some tricks up its sleeve to respond in kind.

Quad exhaust is nice! Seeing how you can exceed the HP and torque numbers on the Mustangs 2.3 with just a tune, I cant wait to see what a FBO 2.7 will get up to!

The base Mustang should come with the 2.3 the 2.7 as the middle and keep the 5.0 as the top. Lets get rid of the v6.

NEVER get rid of the V6. Add all the turbo crappo whatever but a six cylinder is part of the heritage.

The 2.7 is a twin-turbo ecoboost V6.

Can't believe you can't get a black interior with the Fusion Sport. You get 1 choice of interior color...wtf Ford?!?

I know..2.3 turbo as base 2.7(tt) middle then 5.0...
The problem is how it fits in the lineup, Ford already had to nerf the 2.3 to keep it from being too close to the GT, Even gimped It has 310 hp and 320 ftlbs. the 2.7 has 325hp and 380 ftlbs.

The 2.7 with a tune will probably be putting out at least Coyote numbers.

The point I'm trying to make is that stock, there is just not enough of a performance advantage for the 2.7 over the 2.3 to justify a significant cost increase, and uncorking the engine, it will be too close to the higher and more profitable trim level engine.

Once the GT goes TT V8 there will not be a need to create any artificial space and the engines can be uncorked to allow a greater spread of hp between them.

My prediction for the s650 would be

Base 2.3 I4 ecoboost ~350 hp
Mid 3.5 V6 ecoboost ~420 hp
GT~4-4.5 V8 ecoboost ~530 hp

There just isn't enough room in the lineup for it at the moment
