Hello all. I couldn't really find any info on this. I bracket race my 2016 Mustang GT A6 on weekends throughout the summer. I currently have 3.55 gears with just drag radials. My question is: if I go to 3.91 gears, will I still be able to stay in 4th gear when I cross the finish line/traps? What about if I add CAI and Catback as well?

Thanks!!!

A simple gearing calculator will tell you that. You need to know what mph you trap now and what size tires you have.

I'm trapping about 108mph with 27.5" tires.

You'll be at 5900rpm in 4th at 108mph with the 3.91s.

You have plenty to go until 7000rpm.

Does anybody on this forum run 4.09/4.11 gears in the 1/4 mile? If so, what are you trapping for rpm in 4th in the 1/4 mile?

Thanks. Looks like 3.91/4.11 might be the ticket for 1/4 mile bracket racing in the 15-17 automatic with bolt-ons, that's if I can get traction. I'm currently running Nitto NT555R2s with my 3.55 gears with no problem.
