The GT350R will be a limited production model with 500 to be built in 2016 with another 500 for 2017.....

The wait to get a vin Is getting ridiculous. I could care less about the build date, all I want is a guaranteed car. Ordered it beginning of june... still nothing? And then at the same time you see regular 350's getting vins left and right. Come on ford.

Only 38 scheduled so far and none since 10/9.

Very likely a component or supplier issue that's unique to the 350R.

Far more than 500 will be built. Roughly, they are being allocated to dealers in a ratio of 3:1 for those that will receive multiple GT350's. Stores that won't receive more than one or two allocations aren't likely to receive an R allocation, but that won't equate to as few as 500 by any stretch of the imagination.

Obviously you have much better information than the rest of us have access to?

Please let us know your source of information?

Lastly, based on the above statement what does "Far more than 500 will be built" equate to for 2016 R volume such as 1000 or 2000 units?

to my understanding

100 - GT350 for 2015
37 - GT350R for 2015

5000 - GT350 for 2016
500 - GT350R for 2016

5000 - GT350 for 2017
500 - GT350R for 2017

With the caveat that these are not considered limited edition vehicles. They're limited production sure, but they're not numbered X out of Y. Those numbers I think we all understand are targets and they may build slightly more of them (hundreds, not thousands).

Still awaiting my vin# as well.

The 3:1 would only apply to dealers that participated in the GT350 allocation program. No way to know what dealers did participate but many small dealers did not but again unknown how many. Very doubtful Ford would go much beyond 500 in R production where we could see as little as 400 produced. Will be interesting to see how it plays out if production is indeed suspended on R's for the winter then the production window for 2016 R's is certainly narrow as 2017's would begin production in August.

I certainly agree with all of your comments.

I have had my VIN (319) for 3 months now and of course all of our R models continue to be pushed out.

Having said that your question about winter production for our R cars is going to be very interesting going forward.

For those members that post on here and suggest that there will be a lot more than 500 R models produced for the 2016MY it is interesting how they cannot come up with any back up to substantiate their claim?

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

In addition to the 3:1 thing (which really only applied to large dealers volume dealers), there were 100 allocated via lottery. If there was really going to be 1000 R's made, why would they go through all that trouble?

And from the data collected of the scheduled VINs so far, total R production thus far is below the 10:1 ratio mentioned above

Id love for them to make more so I can snag one later on in the future, but I just dont see them doing much more than 500ish.

I'm betting there will be far less than 500 R's for 2016. I'll give it 300 tops.

Haven't seen an explanation as to when those still waiting for a VIN might possibly hear they've gotten one, although I might have missed it. Word is the VINs are being assigned and cars built and distributed based on Mustang sales in general. So for those of us who have ordered from lower volume dealers and regions a bit out of the way (and by the way probably more prone to MSRP sales) likely won't see our cars until Spring. Apparently production is already set through January so if you don't have a VIN by now you may be in the later groups. Actually OK by me as I don't have to transport home in bad weather and wouldn't drive it in the winter anyway.:chill:

Speak for yourself! I'm in Florida and this is the best season to be driving! :)

I haven't read that production is already "filled" through January, except for the tires-vs-winter issue. Hopefully they get some more on the books.
