Available spring 2015.

The Ford Explorer is sharply redesigned for 2016. The newly sculpted exterior, lighting and wheels all create a more refined presence. A stunning new Platinum model provides more luxury than before. An available new, more powerful EcoBoost® I-4 engine enhances your power choices. The legendary Explorer capability is here as well, of course, and complemented by available new technologies that will elevate your driving experience.

Meh not a fan of moving the explorers to a crossover style. Isn't that what the edge is for? The explorer should be sticking with the trucks imo. Everything suv looks like a minivan now.

Why is this on the Mustang forum?
Well...general automotive section...something about (non 6th Gen Mustang) in the forum header...

Odd..it's almost like this is for a general car discussion...

Sure glad you were hot on that, Sherlock, made me think a bit.

Good , time for a redesign!

I dont know what it is , but pretty much all civilian explorers that are white or black bear way too much resemblance to the police interceptors >.<

Dont get me wrong they look great but..tired of the false alarms!

Sucks you have to step all the way up to Sport or Platinum to get the available 3.5 Ecoboost. I really couldn't buy this vehicle with anything but that engine, given its great reputation and power.

I played around with a Sport model, but the options ballooned the price to the point where you might as well just get it over with and get the Platinum.

u Thought the Explorer was fairly a new look already

Wasnt aware it was due for a change
It's only a few years old, but Ford has said they want to start doing refreshes every 3 years or so on all cars.

I really liked the explorer how it was, but this one looks great too.

Pretty nice mid-cycle refresh.

So this Explorer currently rides on the Taurus platform. When the Taurus gets moved over to the Fusion Platform in 2016, are they still gonna keep the Explorer on the old Taurus platform?
