So the 2015 ecoboost manual was 26mpg combined city and highway. 22 city and 31 highway.

The 2016 ecoboost is the same 22 city and 31 highway but it gets 25mpg overall? What happened? Did they make some changes to the 2016 model?

Thanks

Probably just adjusting for more realistic numbers since the 2015s have been out.

Truth in advertising. Probably just a small change in the numbers that changed the rounded result.

So did the fuel economy actually change or did the government just calculate it differently then? I didn't think they made any changes to the 2016 models other than minor things.

Edmunds specs indicates "MPG: Up to 22 city, 31 highway" Weight & HP specs stayed the same, so most likely just a doc change.

15,000 miles in and my average is 25.1 if that's any consolation.

I'm at 9k and 30.3 over all these miles. A bit better than I expected.

Sounds like a slight adjustment in the formula for the combined mpgs. Probably accounts for a higher percentage of city driving than before.

At 22k miles I am sitting at 28.3 hand calculated. Car says 29.4 since new.

I wouldn't worry about what the EPA says. It's all about your right foot.

I'm not seeing anything to indicate the actual MPG changed...it seems you are right, they just adjusted the calculation. I've not read anything to say that Ford adjusted the power or anything like that.
