Hopefully we'll see some proper high performance Ford sedans in the near future.

GM failed by not offering AWD as standard, or at least as an option, for this 4,200lb luxury sedan. Killing off the manual, and not offering a dual clutch transmission, is also a major failure.

I give Ford credit for offering a SHO with AWD.

2011 Avenger...sadly
If the $75,000-$80,000 price tag is accurate too...well that will not be good

Agreed. I think GM is losing their minds. Their theory is that if they price their cars equal to the Germans, they will be considered equal to the Germans.
That is laughable.
If they want to compete with the Germans, they have to offer the same tech (AWD and DCT) and the same performance and luxury.
In addition, people expect to pay less for a domestic car compared to an import, and they will pay less, or simply buy an import instead.

GM's selling points are the LS/LT V8, low price, high reliability, simplicity, and a lightweight chassis. (Corvette with a manual transmission) Once they stray from that, they can't compete.
Even a GM fan boy like me doesn't want a complicated car (non pushrod V8) from GM, or will pay a premium for a GM car without premium features. (AWD, DCT, TT V8)

I would buy a lightweight Cadillac sedan with a LSx and AWD for a DOMESTIC price.
If I am going to approach $70k, I'll buy a Audi S6 instead of the 2016 CTS-V.
But, for that same money, I actually bought a new Corvette AND a new G37x sedan instead.

I am happier with those 2 cars than I would be with one 2016 CTS-V.
On the other hand, a Audi S6 running 11's in the 1/4 from just a tune, with both DCT and AWD, for LESS money than a CTS-V is a tempting offer and was a strong competition to the combination of my Corvette/G37s sedan combo.
