I don't understand how a non-R 2015 would take money like this! It's the same for 2016 where they produced 5000 units!! Am I missing something here? So what if it's a 2015!
One word..... Collectors (and there's a few here in this forum). ;)

It mattered/matters because this limited production was for the commemorative model year. So Ford made sure the 2015 Shelby GT350 and 2015 Shelby GT350-R are instant collector items. One doesn't have to agree with it but it's true and proven.... there are many Shelby or specialty Mustang collectors world wide.

Google it....

I get it, but if you park a 2015 next to a 2016 of the same color, nothing is different but the model year. But one is $100K, the other $60K?

And I would think my insurance company may not feel the same about it's collectibility price if it was stolen/totaled.

I guess it's good to just be a driver and not a collector. :)

I hear you and I know the way you're interpreting it... but that's the way it is in the car enthusiast/collector world; these kinds of cars will always be sought after. Heck look at the R, it doesn't matter what model year it is. But keep in mind that not all limited production cars skyrocket in value especially short term (GM has one... aka the 5th gen Z/28).

And I don't worry... I drive mine. It's more fun that way. :D

You would need to get an "agreed value" policy on any '15 GT350....I agree that std insurance does not take "collector" value into the equation.
That being said, I had a buddy who's '91 Mustang LX 5.0 Vert was stolen. There were so few comparables for sale at the time, he was able to show his insurance company and Autotrader ad for a pristine car, with a ridiculous asking price and got a big bump in his settlement........you never know.

Yes, I know it's 1 of 50 tech packs. I was saying 1 of 137 produced in 2015, that's a low number in any car that is produced. I was trying to tell the guy it will increase in value over time, if you have that kind of money to put into it and wait 10 to 15 years. Some people buy these for collections and don't drive them, or drive them very little to keep the value up.

If it were mine, I would drive the shit out of it, no use in having a car you cant have fun with.
I said that because what was on the site and not what you said.

The add says 1 of 137 tech packages

Insurance will pay out market value on a 2015. . . Especially if you go TODAY, get a certified appraisal and have that as back up if any unfortunate events may happen. I would continue to get the car appraised every year. . . so it's always current. A small price to pay to protect the equity.
