Since you brought up the comment about "a kit that we are building" you brought me to another question not directly related to your original thread.

Due to a bad knee injury that happened many years ago while racing motocross, my wife is pushing me to get an automatic cause she feels that I have no business pushing in a clutch, particularly when the knee is really giving me problems. Since Ford is not making the PP an option with automatic transmission I have a tough choice.

I am 90% sure I will be getting my GT supercharged about the time the drivetrain warranty runs out. If I go with an automatic, are there any probable tuning or reliability issues that go along with the auto?

One item that worries me is the aluminum rear end housing that comes with the auto, while the manual gets a steel housing.
The other worry for me is that all the kits announced so far mention manual transmission specifically.

It won't even be close to that price range. I'm expecting at least 60K

They don't give away 5.2L flat plane VooDoo motors that make 600hp and rev to 8,000rpms in a car that is 300-400# lighter for nothing.;)
If the GT350 comes in around 60k and there IS a GT500 introduced in the next couple years, I assume it would be to compete with the Z06.

Does Ford have room in the product line for a 60k/600hp car and a presumably 70k+ car with 650-750hp?

Didn't the 2013-14 GT500 has a base of 55k? Why would its replacement have to start at 70k?

Is that even possible? For 5.2L displacement, wouldn't it have to rev higher than 8K to get 600hp?

The A6 trans is a BEAST! It's actually the same trans that is used in 5500# F-150's with a 12,000# tow rating. Guys have gone into the 8's with the stock auto (they have converters but not for strength). No way you're going to break that sucker.

Tuning won't be an issue shortly. Everything will be cracked open if it isn't already. All the blower manufacturers offer manual tunes first, it's normal.

Unless you are planning on running slicks and pulling the front wheels during launches you won't break that rear end. We actually want to swap out iron one for an aluminum one. We'll be making about 600hp.

The GT350 will be the competition for the Z06. On the road course when things get heat soaked from the blower (a couple of laps) that Z06 will be down about 100hp. The NA GT350 will be giving them all sorts of trouble.

GT500 replacement will be over 800. And the two cars will not compete with each other really. You will have one track day car doing an impression of a street car (GT350) and the other will be a street car/cruiser/beast (GT500). They could be exactly the same price. Pick the best tool for the job you want to accomplish.

Most GT500's were optioned out to just under $70K. Not many people buy "stripper" SVT's. I wouldn't.

The Ferrari 458 makes 570hp with a 4.5L flat plane V-8 that revs to 9,000.

I'm just throwing that 8,000rpm number out there because I can't nail anyone down about what it will be stock when shipped. It could be quite a bit higher. They have been tested at over 10,000rpm. They just may not want to warranty that.;)

All I get for sure is "At least 8,000".

It's possible. I was told that Ford was done leveraging the BOSS name for a while. That was about a year ago though. Minds could have changed. I'll ask around.

I certainly agree that a streetable beast like that is not going to play in the price range with 1LEs.

I would have thought though that their might be a GT350 with a Coyote that plays in the midpoint between the GT350 Beast and the GTPP. You don't think so?
