That's what I was afraid of. May be a good reason to stay away from those buttons.

It's a valid complaint. In our GT500, this is my view when shifting gears. Can't see the speedo at all.

Wake up Ford. Put the gauges where we can see them!

Our F150 is set up much better!
When you're shifting, the TACH is the important gauge

I recently wrote Ford about the gauge placements & suggested swapping tach and speedo positions. Their 'newideas' dep't replied...

"Thank you for submitting an idea to Ford Motor Company. Your suggestion was forwarded to a technical specialist for evaluation. Their evaluation is based on two major elements: 1) improvement upon current technology, and 2) cost. Our technical specialists have reviewed your idea and concluded that Ford Motor Company will not be able to further investigate development of your particular idea, nor acquiring any rights on your behalf.

We carefully study customer expectations regarding features like the one you suggest. Please note that any vehicle we manufacture represents a compromise between customer wants and needs.
We will take your suggestion into consideration, but cannot reveal future product details. Please stay tuned. "

That might be true when you're drag racing.

Use of the tach is otherwise most useful before the engine and tranny have warmed up on a winter day where the temperature is below about 30°F. This so you aren't revving the engine any further than absolutely necessary for the next upshift to work smoothly.

Most any other time it's not important if you've got any ear for engine revs at all. At a road course track day last Saturday I doubt I looked at the tach more than a couple of times in four sessions. Didn't need to. But to the point of this thread when I did look, it was a whole lot easier to see 5900-ish on the left-mounted tach than 120-ish on the right-mounted speedometer the couple of times I got curious enough about my speed down the main straight and the situation was relaxed enough for me to look for that.

Has anyone seen the interior of the new F-type? The car is totally stunning on outside and i love the interior too.

I'm hoping the s550 in its final form can have a finish thats a little closer to this. if you look at the gauges, the way the infotainment stack is framed and the steering wheel there is some loose similarity. also, are those HVAC toggle switches in the F-type?

Why? the steering wheel looks very similar. It wasn't long ago that Jaguar was part of Ford.

Anyhow the point of my post is more that this is the type of finish I wish for the s550. layout looks great and the smooth black finish makes the all buttons less distracting imo.

I'm really hoping the final fit and finish is fairly nice... nicer than the current gen (although from what we've seen, it doesn't look like a very dramatic departure). I'd like to be able to beat my friends with their G37Ss and BMWs, and skip some of the "yeah but look at the interior... all plastic crap! That's a rental car with a big engine!" talk :)

Which would be an awfully weak-sauce way for them to save face if you're also beating them in the corners and under braking . . . "is that all you guys can come back with?"

Good fit would be good, and good enough.

Given the rumored specs, IRS, etc, I'm fully planning on beating them in every area, track included. If the 2011 GT could go toe to toe with the M3 with a live axle, I expect the 2015 to beat it on the track - for half the price... :) And yeah, I don't need BMW/Jag finish, just "nice" would be good enough!

Not so crazy to me. It obviously won't be as nice as the F type but Melino is right about similarities in the gauge cluster, steering wheel and yes those are toggle switches on the bottom of the center stack.

For what it's worth dont forget the Callum brothers. One is design director at Ford and the other is design director at Jaguar. Maybe they trade notes. :)
If it's half as nice as the F type we'll all be very lucky.

I'll give u the toggle switches, but the steering wheel or gauge? The steering wheel is just adapted from the current. And the gauge is nothing special and very similar to many others.
