So, I got rear ended yesterday in my 2015 Gt mustang and the person that was at fault didn’t have insurance or an ID so I gotta go through my insurance, but I just mainly wanna see y’all thoughts on the damages.

Yea, you're probably looking at close to $5k in damages which would be parts/labor/prep/paint work if going through Insurance, because there's probably some underlying damages that can't be seen.

The tail panel looks like it is pushed inward too, so that wouid need to be pulled and straightened.

Another topic to discuss with your Ins. Agent would be can they do diminished value for you, because now that VIN will have an accident or event report associated with it, if you were to trade in or sell done the road.

Did the other person get any citations for second with no insurance or ID??

Man, it's a shame to see. But, on a positive note—you came out pretty alright, all considered. I'd second Cobra's guesstimate of $5K, just because they'll need to either pull or replace the trunk cap, it looks like. Maybe $6K since it looks like you need both new tails.

For reference, when I got rear-ended back in November. This was $10K of damage, including the replacing trunk cap, banging out the trunk lid, replacing the rear quarter skin, a new tail, and all the paintwork and plastic.

Good news was: no underlying frame damage, and went down on carfax as a minor accident consisting only of cosmetic damage. I imagine yours will be the same.

Do pursue diminished value if it's available, and if it's worth pursuing... that's a decision for you to make based on what's estimated to be lost.

Good luck.

8-10k in damage, especially if the rear quarter panel is pushed in.

Your damage is almost identical to mine from late last year. Insurance paid me just over $4k for the damage but I had to fight them on it as they tried to only pay out $3,600. I purchased everything from Levittown Ford through Benny and got a great price. Except the bumper, I went aftermarket on that to save the freight charge. If you have a good paint guy and can do the body work yourself you can probably get it fixed for around 2k. Might save you money in the long run between deductibles and premiums if that's an option for you.

Completely sucks!

I’m stiff miffed at the no ID and no insurance... at least here in Ontario that person may even be looking at jail time lol...

I sincerely hope the police were involved!

Thanks for the reply and I’ll definitely look into that diminished value thing! But, she needed the ambulance called, so I was just worried about her well being after the fact. As much as I wanted to be upset about the ID and insurance thing I was just glad she was alright.

If she didnt have insurance I'm pretty sure your insurance company won't pay out diminished value but some states may be different. If she does have insurance I'd definitely be going after that.

I wonder what percent of cars on the road don’t have insurance. I constantly hear stories like this all the time. I hope you don’t have much trouble with your insurance or the other party pulling any more crap.

Here in KY she would have been arrested, at the very least given a summons.

At best no insurance is a high class misdemeanor but easily can be upgraded to a felony.

No insurance, no ID, rear-end someone, gets hauled away with unknown injuries - sounds scamy to me.
