I just got my blendmount and mirrortap to mount my radar detector under the rear view mirror.

However, I'm curious to know where the wires actually go. The mirror tap comes with a black wire and a red wire, and I'm not quite sure where they go in the back of the molex plug.

The instruction sheet doesn't have a specific picture in mind for the mustang (which would have been nice), and they just show general mirrors that contain a ton more wires in the back (assuming they're other cars). Do I need to stick the prongs in an empty slot? Jam them in with the other cables? Can I screw something up by trying (during the meantime while waiting on some help here)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok. I should have probably mentioned this but didn't think it'd come down to it.. I'm not sure "how to tap it into the fuse box". Plus, I'm sure I'd have to go out and buy something else, right? I've never done anything pertaining to wiring in a car ever before, so I'm a COMPLETE noob at this.

Is there not a way to make this work 100% with what I have or something?

Jam them in. Make sure you have power to power/Ground to ground and not reversed. I can't remember the colors off the top of my head. red is normally power Black/Brown is ground.

You are looking at the diagram as if you were standing in front of your car.

I know it is a figure of speech but you want to support the leads as you push them in. I have seen a few people bend them. Push them in with the connector pulled out like you have it in the picture then plug the connector back up and test.

You are correct , I used needle nose pliers and jammed them in all the way. Works great now

Well, I've called MirrorTap and they weren't sure how the wiring should go. I've gone to the service dept at my dealership and they didn't know, and then I've finally gone to an audio shop and they weren't sure either.

Why is this so complicated? I thought my lack of knowledge with this wiring stuff wasnt that common. My last guess here is to get a voltage meter and try this myself. Sigh

No. I didn't buy what I have just to buy something completely different and get confused again. Unless it actually works better somehow then I don't really see the benefit here. Why waste my money and throw this away plus wait another few days if it's just a matter of finding the right assistance today? I don't even know how this other product works

Am I missing something?

You simply insert the mirror tap connections in the spots Thompyt indicated in the diagram. Red wire to the square that is colored red, black in the square marked black. The mirror tap connections just slide in beside the wires that are already there.
