The GT500 will no doubt be a more collectible car down the road. From a pure performance stand point it may also be a better car stock for stock. Like others have said the new GT has more potential and is likely going to be a better car from a quality stand point. I'd say it depends on how long you intend to keep the car and if you intend to have a collectible or a sports car you can flog on the weekends

I'm trying to reschedule a test drive at my dealership. Old friend of mine is in sales there trying to get me to bite. I've gone too far to turn around now.
only GT500 I would want is the 5.8L

I wouldn't even want the MY13-14 if given a chance to buy one for comparable money. This was sent immediately after to hammer my point through to him.

I've been going back and forth on this as well, but the 2015 wins out in just about every category.

I'm in this same market sort of. It's really tough. However I do know what it's like to go from a gt500 to the newer 5.0. And after a few months, I was regretting the decision. The 5.0 was nice, but I missed the raw power. Handling was okay, and the 2012 5.0 has more refinements then the 07 gt500. So day to day, the 5.0 was a better car. The moment I wanted to go to the track or just mess around, I missed the shelby.

I'm now at the point that I'm hopping to snag a 2013 gt500 under 50k. If I don't see one soon, I'm afraid I'll grab a 2015 GT PP.

I don't see myself cross shopping 2012 or older shelby with the new mustang.

Ressurecting an old thread here. Just from driving perspective (no value or collectability factors included), I just drove a '15 GT PP 6m Recaro and '10 Shelby GT500 back to back. I feel the S550 as a better car except for the acceleration. Call me crazy.

The GT 500's

Look far better than a 15' GT. The 13' or 14' GT500's are future collector cars, and they are way faster, way more powerful, and simply way cooler than a stock 15 GT/PP.

This is a no brainer.

You're not crazy, IMO.....

My '15 is many orders of magnitude better than my '07 GT500 was. Personally, stock for stock, I think a well driven '15 will give a pre-'13 GT500 fits between stoplights since the power doesn't go up in smoke. It will get a person into trouble plenty fast, at any rate.

Some just blindly focus on that name on the decklid.... ;)

gt500s engines are not cheap if something happens, 5.4 or 5.8. I had a 14 gt500, I sold it because of the costly build required for a reliable 800+whp. It was about 20g for a motor build. Plus the other mods. I was looking at 43ish all said and done with all mods. No thanks . Get a gt.

Seeing how the '15's are taking to FI, this is a much better comparison now. At least I think so.

All the safety, suspension and interior upgrades and getting 700RWHP pretty easy with such little strain on the motor. I would take a loaded GTPP with FI.

No doubt the 13/14 GT500's are insane cars, beautiful motors, etc. I would still buy one in a heartbeat. Almost did, but when with the GTPP instead as I prefer the body style and suspension.

GT500 no question...no Shelby owners wish they had a GT, just sayin...

that car can make well over 700 at the wheels without doing motor work...

It's faster, it's more rare, it's a higher trim model, worth more, motor is fully forged, like some others have said...no brainer.

I'd also add that since you're on the 6G forum, you aren't going to get unbiased opinions on this. Ask on another forum and see how the responses will differ.

better check again my quoted post above youes. I sold my 14 for a 16 gt. fully forged yet its rods cant take more then 800whp reliably becausd of the shitty design. You dont know dick about the gt500s Stop it. I can have a gt that will burry my previous build plans for 12g cheaper and itll be a lot faster. My previous build didnt even include axles or a swap to a magnum xl because the trans in it sure isnt handling that power for long enough. Its close to 50g for a reliable 1000whp build.
