I replaced my Mak cat delete with long-tubes as I generally like the performance and sound of the long-tubes but the sound of the Mak, to me, is better. The power of the long-tubes is more but not that much, maybe at the most, 20rwhp at high rpm but overall, it was less than 10rhwp and rwtq. Point is, I think the Mak cat-delete is a fantastic mod for the cost. I think there were $350 bucks, that's cheap. Had mine installed for $150 as well, including the welding. I highly recommend the Mak cat-delete and if I had only one mod to do, money dependent, probably the Mak.

Before and after, Mak cat-delete versus BBK 1 3/4" headers, no cats. My car has a JLT and is an auto with 3.55 gears. This is a dynojet, SAE corrected. Point is, the difference was that much though maybe with more mods, a GT350 intake or power adder, the headers might help more to that end. Anyway, I still think the Mak cat-delete is a great bang for your buck mod.

So why the welded flange design on the driver's side instead of a slip on with clamp? I'm sure a lot of customers are turned away by needing to weld the flange to the factory header. I would think a slip on with the inside diameter matching the OD of the factory pipe above the converter would be sufficient.

Earlier in the thread back in 10/14 you mentioned looking into other design solutions vs. welding the flange.

Did you look at the pipe above the cat ? It is not round and has like seams on it ..No way to do a slip on and clamp ..
