2015-2017 seats vs 2018+ seats

A FB friend verified that the brackets and the harness appear to be the same for the 2 different versions, but I can't seem to determine what exactly is different about the 2018+ seats.

I guess the operable question is will the 2018+ seats work in a 2015-2017 model? Are there any fitment or modifications? Why did Ford discontinue offering the 2015-2017 seats if they're not backward compatible?

The programing is different. Because the ecu’s are different.
