I posted a similar thread in the 50th LE forum. After thinking about it, maybe it is be better to ask the larger 2015-2017 Coyote 5.0 M6G Community about ownership experience, since these were the "intro" S550 5.0's that went through most of the growing pains... This thread may also help perspective buyers of a 2015-2017 S550 5.0.

For ONLY the 2015-2017 S550 Coyote 5.0, please add your Ownership experiences here, being that the vehicles have now aged 5-7 years after production.

1) Basic -
- How many miles on your 2015-2017?
- Daily driver, Garage Queen or Race (Drag/Road/Auto Cross)?
- Long term ownership experience to date as far as reliability and expectation?

2) A/C System -
- Any issues with the A/C or common EVAP core problems?
- If problem, was it the A/C compressor or EVAP that failed?

3) MT82 -
- Any issues with the gearbox operation or shifting functionalities?
- Any issues with clutch slave cylinder?

4) 6R80 -
Any issues with harsh shifts or valve body concerns?

5) Engine -
- Oil consumption issues?
- VCT issues?
- Intake (IMRC) issues?
- Water pump issues?
- Timing system issues (chain, guides, etc.)
- OPG issues?
- If engine has been replaced, why?

6) SYNC -
- Have you upgraded your 2015-2017 SYNC to the most current version available for 2015-2017?
- Have you upgraded SYNC to the 2018+ SYNC? Upgrading to the 2018+ may require swapping of the APIM or other components.
- Have you added Apple CarPlay/Android Auto?

7) Paint/Corrosion -
Any issues with hood (rust, corrosion or peeling)?
Any issues with corrosion in drainage channels at front windshield or rear window?

8) Has anyone tried to add the 2018+ Active Exhaust?

1) Basic - currently 11,3XX miles, total garage queen and weekend fair weather toy since Day 1. Has been my favorite Mustang to date, even above the special edition cars in my sig. I'll probably keep this one since I have no desire for an even more complex and more expensive fun car, I'll buy older to add to the fleet. Fit and finish are my only real gripes with mine.

2) A/C System - none, knock on wood

3) MT82 - trans was "nibbly" when cold until a BG fluid swap, flawless since

5) Engine - used a little oil at first despite aggressive break in, settled in around 5,000 miles

6) SYNC - no on all

7) Paint/Corrosion - no issues, but the car lives indoors and doesn't see rain

3. MT-82 is fine.
5.Very little oil consumption (.5 qt every 5K miles)
6. lost audio for navigation. failed update with USB. No plans on having it fixed
7. hood was bubbling at 25K miles. instead of having ford fix it, I bought a cervinis hood.

1) Basic -
- How many miles on your 2015-2017?

34820 km (21626 miles)

- Daily driver, Garage Queen or Race (Drag/Road/Auto Cross)?

Daily/Time Attack car

- Long term ownership experience to date as far as reliability and expectation?

Issues I have with the car: Driver side rear wheel hub (number of times), MT82 oil leak (fixed), Rear suspension clunk overbumps (still ongoing issue), squeeking rear springs (but this is normal), Clutch slave cylinder gone.

2) A/C System -

Works amazing. No Issues.

3) MT82 -
- Any issues with the gearbox operation or shifting functionalities?

2nd to 3rd gear locks besides that shifting is fine. Issue was an oil leak last season.

- Any issues with clutch slave cylinder?

Slave cylinder is gone but was probably due to air and not bleeding clutch during brake system brake fluid changes or Motul RBF660 to much for slave cylinder. Replacing clutch with Exedy Mach 500 still waiting on Parts.

5) Engine -
- Oil consumption issues?

Had issue with oil consumption but was fixed with an ECU flush to newer version by my dealer.

- VCT issues?

none that I know about.

- Intake (IMRC) issues?

no issues

- Water pump issues?

no issues

- Timing system issues (chain, guides, etc.)

no issues

- OPG issues?

no issues

6) SYNC -
- Have you upgraded your 2015-2017 SYNC to the most current version available for 2015-2017?

Nope don't care don't bother.

- Have you upgraded SYNC to the 2018+ SYNC? Upgrading to the 2018+ may require swapping of the APIM or other components.

Nope don't care don't bother

- Have you added Apple CarPlay/Android Auto?

Have it by default MY2017

7) Paint/Corrosion -
Any issues with hood (rust, corrosion or peeling)?

No but I have XPEL on it since new.

Any issues with corrosion in drainage channels at front windshield or rear window?

Never checked. Hopefully not.

Only issue so far is the paint....it's awful. popping off around rear glass and windshield. I believe it will chip off of the front if a cotton ball hits it.

Any pics of this? Is the seam sealer cracked and so you know if you're having any water intrusion?

2017, 401, A6, 28,000 miles, daily driver 12 mo a yr, car is/has been perfect since new except for one issue. Sometimes would not start (engine cranks but not firing up). Took a while to find the problem but to correct it the entire inside brake pedal system was replaced, no issues since. This has been my best Mustang ever and I started with a 1965, 1968, 1971, etc! Gaps on doors, hood, trunk are perfect and even, paint (Ruby Red) is perfect, no bubbling or corrosion anywhere. Guess I must have one of he best assembled 2017 Mustangs ever!

The only issue I've experienced was the driveshaft vibration issue. It's still there after several trips to the dealership, but it is much better. The car has been flawless other than that.

Great idea, here you go.

1) Basic:
- 50K
- Garage Queen/Track Car
- Very Reliable with very little maintenance issues. However I ALWAYS inspect and work on my car.

2) A/C System:
- No issues at all

3) MT82 -
- No issues at all but it is a whiny gearbox. Sounds like straight cut gears at times lol.
- Sidenote: I use high grade trans fluid and change it every other season. I also have a Barton V2 Shifter.

4) 6R80 -
- N/A

5) Engine -
- No Oil consumption issues
- No VCT issues
- No Intake (IMRC) issues. Upgraded to a ported unit years ago.
- No Water pump issues
- No Timing system issues (chain, guides, etc.)
- No OPG issues. OPG and CS were changed to forged units years ago.
- No engine replacement yet

6) SYNC -
- Originally had a 4" unit but upgraded it to a 8" aftermarket unit.
- Contemplating either ripping the whole thing out or replacing it.

7) Paint/Corrosion -
- No paint issues. live in CA and garaged.
- No drainage issues

8) I have a fully custom exhaust but not active.

Overall, it's a great car and has given me a great ownership experience.

2017 gt perf pack car. 45K miles, daily driver, only actual issue i had was my left rear axle retaining nut backed off a little causing a clicking noise, tightened with locktite and no issue since. paint is thin and thats my biggest complaints is rock chips appear easily. dragged a couple times without issues. no issues with MT82 or clutch, shifter was a little sloppy but MGW fixed that. really no other issues. been a great and reliable car for the almost 6 years ive had it.
