Hello Everyone!
First time posting here. Been lurking here since I joined last year. Purchased my 2016 GT350 Tech Pack last year on 9/11/2020. Been a huge fan of Mustangs since my early childhood years. Had a model of the 65 Shelby GT350 when I was like 11 or 12. Long story short, I was turning 50 in December of last year and my wife gave me the green light to go ahead and buy my dream car Mustang. I had been looking for quite sometime (without the wife knowing of course). Of course it had to be the GT350, and it had to be the classic white with blue stripes. My wife works for CarMax and I have been fortunate enough to drive most of the Mustangs. Numerous GT's, Boss 302's, GT500's. But never the 350, they were over the price range that CarMax would allow Consultants to take home and demo. CarMax allows the Consultant and spouse to drive them for 30 days. Another long story short, I finally located a local dealer that had the one I was looking for. Went down to the dealer on 9/10/20 to test drive it. Drove it and was instantly smitten. The car was a one person owner, that had purchased it and had it serviced at this dealer, so that was a huge selling point for me. It had a little over 36k miles, and I saw all the previous service records. It was a little over the price range I was looking for, tried to haggle a little but they didn't bite. We went home disappointed. Got a call from the dealer the next day and they were willing to haggle a little. We were able to talk them down to 46 and some change, with the total out the door price with TTL for 50 even. Made it even better since I was purchasing this car for my 50th birthday! Dealer also installed brand new Michelin SC2's!
First thing I did within the first month was replace the tech pack spoiler with the track pack spoiler. It gave the car a much better look. Next was a resonator delete, I went with the Corsa double X-pipe. Next I went with a 93 Lund tune via N-Gauge and a JLT CAI, installed the tuner in the vent. Within the next couple of months changed out the stock pads for Z26 Power Stop pads. Also installed the Caliperfexion studs while I had the calipers off. A few other things added were a passenger side FP oil can, Bemaro 65' GT350 rocker stripes, white front splitter Shelby lettering, and then replacing the USB module so I could install the Sync 3 with Apple Play. Next, thinking of going with lowering springs. Either BMR, Steeda, or Eibach. Would love to hear some feedback on those. I know, I know, search the numerous threads!! Not going to track obviously. Just going for the lowered look and drivability.
After 1 year of ownership and a little over 7k miles, she has been everything I wanted the car to be. Been in the shop twice. First time, I was on my way to work in the am, got side swiped by a drunk driver. That happened within the first month. Next was recently when the AC stopped blowing cold air. Dealer changed out the evaporator but didn't fix it. Wound up being a pressure sensor. Purchased an aftermarket warranty so it was all covered. She does consume some oil, but not anything excessive, I keep a close watch on it. She's not a "daily", but more of a nice weather/weekend car meet car. BTW, if any of you are in the DFW area with a Shelby, contact me. We try to do all the major meets. Cantina, Fueled Up, Southlake, and a few smaller ones. Would love to add you to the group. We are on IG and FB as DFW Shelbys. We have merch too! Hats and stickers for now, going to be adding Shirts soon.
Onto the pics!
