Hi all,

I am replacing my 2015 Ecoboost with a 2015 GT. The Ecoboost has 19x9 rims all around, the GT has 19x9.5's in the rear.
Since I still have a pretty good set of 255x40x19 winter tyres (Michelin Pilot Alpin) that I used om my Ecoboost, I was thinking to get a set of 19x9 rims so I can still use my old tyres in the winter on my GT.

Is there any obvious reason why that might be a bad Idea? Does anyone have experience with running narrower rims than stock on a GT?

Thanks,

Probably couple of tens of thousands of people. Non-PP GTs sold in US had 8", 8.5" and 9" square set up. They were all fine.
In fact I was running 9" wide square setup in autocross with 285/35 RE-71Rs...

As long as the wheels fit over front brakes there is absolutely no reason to not go square in this case.

Thanks for your reply. I was going to get some stock 19x9's somewhere, so caliper fitment shouldn't be a problem.
