question i have is has anyone had their vehicle bought back from ford having aftermarket parts on it? and how do they deal with it if the customer wants those parts back or put on the new vehicle if they go for the buyback option of getting a new vehicle as a replacement?
this is whats going on with my car right now.
So i bought my car with little over 100 miles on it. its been ticking since i got it. didn't think much of it at first because people were saying stuff about the injectors until it kept getting louder and i noticed the 2k rpm rattle.
Purchased car early august. took car in early October for the rattle at dealer i purchased it from. tech said normal characteristic of the car, so i didn't think anything of it anymore. so i installed aftermarket exhaust, lowered the car and some other aesthetic stuff. I couldn't hear the rattle anymore because of the exhaust i had now. fast forward to December i take it back in because the rattle is louder and now really noticeable even with the exhaust. my adviser opened a hotline with ford to see if they can get any info on the noise. ford responded with "normal characteristic".
3/27/19 took car back in because rattle was now much louder. got same response "normal characteristic". but the adviser kept asking ford for more explanation on the matter but got no reply. so i then told him about the tick and he opened another hotline for the tick and I emailed him the video of the car ticking. ford replied with normal characteristic again. I went to school to become a mechanic and am fresh out of school and to me and my instructors who were former techs for many years also said it sounded like piston slap or timing chain play so i wasn't gonna just let it go. so my car sat at the dealer for almost 3 weeks. picked car up 4/15/19 because i wanted to take it to another dealer since this dealer never messaged me or kept me in touch with anything i would always have to go in to get any information.
4/25/19 took car in to another ford dealer 30 min away and explained the situation with the car and showed them videos of the car ticking. sent the video to the adviser as well. within 1 hour they called me and left a voicemail "we know for sure you will probably need a lower part of the engine replaced". they asked for tear down time to inspect further. im supposed to get a call from them today and i was planning on going in also and checking the motor out myself if its completely torn down already and seeing if there was any damage. also have been talking with ford directly and letting them know abut my situation because the car was at the other dealer for so long. will most likely try to go through the buy back process and see what happens from there.
