I will be purchasing new wheels for my lowered 2019 PP1 mustang soon (black Friday). My plan is to use the new setup for 3 or 4 track days a year and also fun summer driving. I have a set of all seasons for the stock wheels for the rest of the time. I want to run RS4s for their track performance/durability/economy combination.

I was hoping to run the widest possible squared setup. This is where I'm faced with a choice where others might have some experience. From the apex mustang fitment guide it looks like I can run 275/35/19 squared with no issue. Or I can run 295/40/18 with at least 12mm spacers up front.

What are the pros and cons of those two setups?

Thanks,
Dan

Both will work fine. Obviously more tire under these heavy cars is better. I went with 285/35/19 for my track wheels and now am going to 305 square. Kinda wish I went 305 from the start and save myself some money.

The con for one will be the pro for the other essentially. Wider is better for track but ultimately is more expensive. Also 18" tires will save you a lot more money in the long run than 19s

Let me know if you can even find RS4s. They are unavailable everywhere I look.

Pick the tire you want to run. Then, choose the wheel accordingly not the other way around, unless cost restricts you. What most people do is run 305s with 11" wheel squared and go with extended wheel studs with spacers up front to clear the strut.
