Just finished my whipple, OPG and sprocket install and I have to say this was definitely an experience I’ll never forget. I’ve done forced induction mods on a 4 cylinder before but this was a whole different beast. Very satisfied with the end results and glad I took the time and did this myself.

For anyone looking into doing this definitely take the time and do it yourself. It’s way more satisfying and you learn so much about your car.

Definitely read the manual entirely before installing, there are some steps that don’t make sense to do prior to the next. And for the final bit of advise, it always helps to have a friend who’s done a shit ton of these installs on speed dial. @db252 you are my hero dude. Thanks for being so patient and answering all my questions. I owe you a beer mah man.

Man that looks so good. Thanks for the words but you were well in command of the project and it was fun being a small part of it and help where I could. Would have been nice to turn wrenches with you but maybe another time. Well done.

Does the cross brace not fit after you install the SC?

The strut tower brace does not fit once the supercharger is installed. I have a Gen 5 Whipple installed on my 2017

Lower the motor 3/4" and add a small spacer and it'll fit fine. The Gen5 is also shorter than previous gens so it'll have more room.

How do you like the Gen5? Glad you chose it over the Gen3/4? Also, are you running it on straight California 91?

I really like the GEN 5 but can not compare it to the GEN3/4 because I never had those on my car. I don't take a chance on running straight California 91, I add Boostane to my tank. I know a few guy that run straight 91 on their cars w/Gan4 Whipple with no issues but they all ways add an octane booster when we go out to have fun. I say get which Gen 3/4 or 5 of Whipple you like and enjoy, either one will put a big smile on your face.

Sorry for the lack of responses, work has been busy as of lately. The car has been really good. No issues at all that have come up. I've only put about 250 miles on the car since the SC was added. Have not taken it to the track or anything as Its more of a weekend warrior car at the moment. The only drawback i've noticed with the Gen 5 over the previous is the SC oil filling port is on the back of the unit and there is no window to view the levels so when it hits 100K miles on the charger the SC must be removed from the vehicle in order to refill it.

Nice work, OP, looking forward to your further impressions.

I have a Roush SC on my 2016 GT, almost definitely planning to get the Whipple Stage 2 from https://www.kpmmotorsport.com.au/ here in Melbourne quite soon. Will DIY it too, also do the OPG and billet crank sprocket too, as well as do the Tremec T56 XL conversion some point after,

‘Looking forward getting my hands dirty again, been a long time since playing with 351 Winston Cup Build under twin Turbonetics. Might even plan doing a Hellion TT sleeper build, no rush, though....

Appreciate your feedback.

Cheers,
Beano
