Curious, was there anywhere near as many engine problems reported on this forum when the 15 came out? Everyone keeps saying that this forum is not a good indicator that there is a real issue but I think it is. I almost bought an 18 and have been at the dealer pricing out a 19 but this engine problem is the one thing holding me back.

Honestly, I would be nervous as well.

I have a 2010 Camaro V6 and I remember so many users on camaro5 had engine failures so I did what I could to attempt to prevent the issue. Babied the car. And at 78k (km not miles) the motor failed the same way every other v6 had failed. Unfortunately I babies the car and had out 78k on it over a period of 6 years, and the extended warranty had expired just shy of 6 months earlier than the engine failure

So I am left with a paper weight on my driveway that I love to death. ended up buying the 16 GT as my new daily as it made no sense to rebuild or put a new engine in the Camaro which was known to grenade and or stretch timing chains.

I myself, hoped that it was the forum tin foil hat syndrome but I in fact had a engine failure and was screwed over by GM who wouldn’t make any effort to help me or even discount a new SS so here I am today on the mustang forum.

I can understand why you would be nervous. My brother bought a 18 GT as well and is concerned about the noises he hears

What’s my advice? Drive it like you stole it and put as much miles on it as you can while under warranty

If your motor is going to fail, it’s going to fail before your warranty is over if you drive it hard and frequently

your engines aren't going to fail..the pics I have seen with the scoring showed cylinder damage at where the piston ring stops in the cylinder..hard for a skirt to score at the ring..wheres the pics of the piston skirts at? If ford has to replace even 10% of all the 5.0's they build because of piston slap no need to worry about warranty there will be no more ford left to honor it..do you all honestly think a manufactuer that has been around for 100 years is going to risk everything to release their main engine and keep releasing their main engine with a flaw that could possibly put the company as a whole under?...research the mechanical fuel pump up on your valve cover that's connected to your cams and cam chains, thats never been on the 5.0 before...meanwhile lethals running 9's on a stock block....and 10's of thousands of f150 owners are pulling trailers and campers and boats everyday with basically the same engine...….

This isn't pump noise. Lead development for Gasoline DI works right next to my lab. This sound is completely unrelated to the fuel system (though the conditions for it could be caused by the system). When I sent the video to my tuner, his response was "WOW". This is a very experienced shop, not some random people on the net.

Lol. Some people on here really need to get lives outside of fear porn car forums... Go buy your LT1 powered Chevys and 392 Dodges. More cars for me to wave at passing by. Wow...

OP - your first mods should be to remove the engine sound tube that pumps more noise into the cabin and resonator delete. Enjoy the car and don't try to listen for weird noises. The rattle I had was obnoxiously loud so that was unavoidable and I didn't want to be a $50,000 guinea pig for Ford lol. Others have provided great input and if you ever need help there is lots to be found on this forum. The GT is an amazing car, unfortunately Ford sucks at customer service which in my opinion is the real problem.

Most of the posts about the rattle are coming from people with a manual trans. Anyone get the rattle with their 10 speed car?

My engine is fine.
I hope it stays that way for you. My data logging looked clean last night, so I doubt I will see a major failure soon. My engine was whisper quiet until around 1800 miles (estimated).

I feel like mine is "fine " too but still hear the bbq tick when car is on. Really only notice when I'm outside of the car checking mail or something. Do you not hear the tick at all on yours?

I have an A10 with the engine rattle. Dealership was advised by Ford to change the valves and rocker arm, which will happen sometime next week.

I would not call it a rattle but I get the light bbq tick noticeable outside the car on my A10.

Curious is this the tick or actual rattle? Noticeable outside / inside under what circumstances?

Actual rattle, between 2200-3000 rpm and under light throttle, doesn't change after warming up. Noise popped up after 2000-3000miles. I have not listen for the BBQ tick.
