I have searched and read pretty much everything, I think. Allot goes side ways real quick. lol. And mixed opinions, grain of salt added. Just not the exact answers to what I’m looking at doing.

Time for another set, I’m at 50k km. So I’m researching what is available in canada. Reading that it is best to put as much tire under the front as possible. No track, just street with lots of twisty back roads in BC. Wish we had an option to do track time but that’s another topic.

First 2 sets were the stock sizes, in pilot sports, then a set of ps4s which got me 20k km, (5k km more than the oem). This set was 295/30-19, 305/30-19. Tramlining with the ps4s was less than the oem tires. Yes my Speedo is out a bit. Tried fixing with forscan but I must not have entered parameters correctly.

I will still only be street driven, 99% highway and back roads. Not daily. Suspension is stock.

My questions;

I was looking at going with 305/30-19 on stock rims 10.5/11 wide. Square setup. What would be the pros and cons of this set up? Would I gain anything by going 305’s on the front? Would the tramlining be less than 295’s? Guess that’s what I’m really after if anything. Looks don’t matter, not that you can see that difference anyway.

I’m pricing ps4s, extreme contact sport02, and the falken rt660.

Any one have anything bad to say about my alternative choices? I really like the PS4s, but it’s like a hair cut, it can change in short time. And if the falkens are any good, won’t feel so bad when the tires smoke.

And 1 more, I’m in North okanagan, would travel to Van Anyone have a good supplier to recommend in that radius? Was thinking Washington, but our dollar is crappy. Washington may still happen, not sure how duties would work now. So many more choices in the USA.

cheers

So your only concern is less tramlining? I found that the tire is the major difference there. Going to a 305/30/19 is more of a track set up (which I ran) so I could move a tire to any spot on the car. My home track is hard on the left front. So if I rotated the tires constantly the left front have plenty of rotations before it would cord.

I think most street/highway use the PS4 is the best all around tire that most people choose to accomplish what it looks like you want:

A performance tire, that lasts for highway miles, minimizes tramline, and still has the ability to be stick. Someone else may be able to chime in on the 305 up front an whether or not that makes a difference.

My gut tells me one tire size won't really make any noticeable impact. I think based on your question the stock setup may be your best choice with a PS4.

When I head up to Oliver for Area 27, I'm on a square set of 4 OEM GT350 19x11 ET62 rear rims with Pirelli Trofeo R's in 305/30x19. I use 38mm spacers up front and the front offset and width is identical to the GT350R front setup.

When I head up to Summerland for two weeks in the summer every year, I put on a set of 275/40x19 Conti DWS06's that are mounted on a set of standard 10.5"/11" OEM GT350 rims. The taller tires give me an extra 1/2" of ride height over the 305/30's and heavy rain is not an issue.

Both setups feature no tramlining and excellent performance for what they're intended for.

Now, back in the early days, I ran 305/30x19's on the staggered 10.5"/11" OEM GT350 rims, and the slightly narrower front rims didn't seem to matter on the track, so they probably won't matter on the road either. They worked well, but fronts were fronts and rears were rears, so not fully rotatable.

In terms of tires to choose from, the Goodyear F1 Supercar 3's and 3R's have a good reputation. I ran the 3R's for a bunch of track days and they were great. Check "blackcircles.ca" for pricing.

NOT a GT350 but My HP MACh1 came from the factory with a staggered set-up. 305/30/19's in the front and 315/30/19's in the rear. They were Cup 2's and the tramlining was horrible! I think the OEM wheels were 10.5 front...11's rear. I went to a replica wheel to change finish and lose some weight. I'm 305's squared on 10" wheels. Drives well but the Cooper tires are toast after about 12,000 miles!

Falken RT660 are TERRIBLE in the wet, and its not just the big flat tread blocks, its the tire compound. Avoid if you care about any sort of wet weather performance. Damn things will try to kill you if there is any standing water.

As for 305s, I wouldn't intentionally pinch a continental street tire on any wheel (305 on a 10.5 is slightly pinched) because the contis run pretty soft in the sidewall and they won't feel as confident. They'll start to feel squirmy. For at tire with a very firm sidewall (like that RT660) you can do it, but its still not really going to help as much being on a narrower wheel as a 305 would help.

Either way if tramlining is your concern, avoid the 305 front and avoid the sticky wide tread blocks of something like the RT660.

Good luck.

Thanks everyone for your input, I ordered from Blackcircles, and went with the PS4S in 295/30-19, 305/30-19. This has done me well on the last set. Crazy how much of an increase in price in the last 2 years. Setup an appointment with Stans Auto In Salmon arm, BC, a Blackcircles install shop. See how that goes!!!! Ford put some marks on wheels when changing first set, last shop put some marks on wheels. Was going to go to August, but they want 1000.00 more for the set.
