This post is more to give a fellow forum member an idea of what is involved in getting 15" wheels on an S550. Keep in mind this was a first try and I'm going to a 1" wider rim, with 1" more BS in the near future(15x9.33x6.5BS), this is a total of 2" inward movement from the pics shown below, I may need a small spacer and some grinding. Due to the barrel(inner dia. of the rim) slowly tapering inward, it is necessary to use a "Medium Pad" when using Weld RTS's to clear the caliper. The following pics should help show the problem areas. And the link below is my install of the Aerospace Components brakes, for Drag Racing. I will also be going to a 28" tall tire and 3.31's to keep my rpm's close to my 3.15's, this will give me just a couple more hundred rpm's at the Big End. In the pics those are 26" tall.

Here's a video of the bias-ply tires. The reason went I with 26" is due to their growth at the Big End. In the beginning you are unable to see the rim, but at the Big End you can watch them grow enough to see the rim, at this point they are probably close to 28" tall. I've tried this combo several times and for me they have never been quicker than my much heavier DRs. BTW there are more videos on YouTube at RBS550.

How much do you think something like a 7 5" backspace racestar would affect the need for trimming?

Washed the wife's EB yesterday and did some playing around after, I like 15s. They are not on the car.

I've got sve 15x10 rears on mine with 17x4 fronts. Had to grind on the aerospace brakes and the spindles for fit the wheel. Had to use a minimum of 3/8 spacer also. Ground more off the spindle than I feel comfortable with but it works. 325 50 15 s stick out a little. So I think to sit nice you could do longer studs, 1/2" spacer and 275 60 15s.
