I've done extensive testing for Jason Etter at Dept Of Boost who fabricated and welded a new plate and 1" inlet outlet into the whipple IC. I have basically have a rolling temp lab with dedicated sensors in the HE outlet (cool side) and the IC outlet (hot side) also have dedicated IAT 2 sensor. The MFP 8mm phenolic spacers made a huge different -30 IAT2.

Here is the test data below. All done after engine heat soaked then parked and recorded at idle after these times frames sitting. Sorry the data was copy pasted from a word doc that had proper spacing. maybe I can attache the doc.

Test today April 14, 2019 I added and extended the test to 20 and 25 minutes just to see. Amazing results really.

44F ambient, last year 43F cart was driven for 30 unites like last time oil temp was 200 and cyl head temp was 201.

Below was last fall 43F ambient same cylinder and oil temp as above

Gauge and sensor used for both sides of the water temp.

I have the Zeitronix ZT-2 with their IAT sensor installed in the manifold runner. You can buy one of their many display units or like me I have it displayed through my N-Gauge which is compatible.

What water/anti freeze ratio did you have in your system?

80/20 while not good for winter temps, makes a big difference in the summer, compared to 50/50. Same goes for the engine as well.

I live in Northern Maine and need 50/50 water to anti freeze mix.

I also have a custom inlet setup with completely sealed Whipple Airbox and dual front feed via fog light and Vellosa Tech big mouth ram air cone inlets. This mod in itself made huge difference in IAT1 when stop and go idle and slow mix ed driving. Here is a little video showing how this setup pulls cool air even at idle from from of the grill at the inlets.

I like what you’re doing with all that.
I had mine at the drags over Easter. 90* ambient, couldn’t get the IAT2 under 125* in the almost 2 hours between passes. Hood up, facing into the wind, carefully spraying 50/50 water/alc everywhere....tried everything. Seems to me that once the heat of the engine soaks the lower manifold and IAT2 sensor, you’re gone.
I expect that phenolics would make a BIG difference in those circumstances.

Your right the phenolic spacer made a huge difference. I didn't connect the top bolt and have had no ill affects at all. I did measure for stock hood with clay points and it clears by 1/4" at the lowest point. I did however clearance my hood in that area, but in the end don't think that was needed.

That's some awesome work, I love to see custom done improvements like that.

Thanks man appreciate the kind worlds. I’ve always enjoyed doing crazy shit and differently. This is what happened to my last Mustang a 92 coupe which only had exhaust when I bought it. I did all the work myself and the A2A design as well.

Mind Blown!!! I'm capped at 730 wheel for some dam reason, figure this one out and winner gets a prize (whine). Dyno'd last Friday 65 F, close to the other dyno days weather in the past and got the same results. All done on the same dyno with same pulley, but many other upgrades for power since the first dyno. Not blaming or shaming anyone here in fact I want to say I've received stellar treatment from Both Rob at PBD and Cody at Batten Motorsports in Bangor, thanks to you guys in advance.

Oct 2017 Whipple cal Gen 2.5
    stock headers and cats
    3.5" pulley
    93 octane gas
    Meth injection small shot
    7800 rpm pull
    18 total timing
    730 wheel corrected
    A/F 11.8

    April 2019 Whipple Gen 4
Modified Whipple cal with HP tuners cam timing for power
Kooks 1 7/8 long tubes No cats
    3.5" pulley
93 octane with 10 oz boostane
    Meth injection
    7800 rpm pull
    20 timing advance
    729 wheels corrected
    A/F 11.8

June 2019 same as above except
    PBD Rob cal
    8100 rpm pull
    22 advance timing
    732 wheel corrected
    A/F 11.8

What diameter is your exhaust system? Specifically, I’m looking at your Borla resonator.

All 3” straight through type mufflers and resonator. The Borla Resonator is the 2.25” in 2.5” out. I’m in the process of changing that part to make a true 3” system, but many have made 800 and over with that and similar timing and mods.

WTF! That is very disappointing and makes no sense. If it was a different dyno you could easily say dyno variance, but that's not the case here. You've gained literally no power from headers/no cats/more meth/more timing/more RPM. Something is wrong here.

Are you sure it was revved all the way out on the dyno (hit speed limiter maybe?) And was it dyno'd in 5th?
    Is your clutch slipping?
Do you have logs of the dyno pulls to make sure it reached full timing? (false knock?)
Did you pull the fuse or dyno plug in the engine bay?
    Same correction used each time?
I hate to even suggest this, but have you done a compression test?

I feel your pain a little bit. My last dyno showed I gained a whole 50hp from +3psi, +3deg, cat delete, MAK inlet, and meth injection entirely. But it was a different dyno so I have that to blame. Your case is much different.

Honestly, I see NA cars profiting from removal of that 2.25” bottleneck ALL the time.
I can’t see how that isn’t hurting your setup.
Let us know how you get on with it.
    Cheers

The car feels faster especially on the initial hit driving and really seems to pull hard AF, but it's not showing for sure and it should. As far as the reasons why we scratched our heads and double checked everything, between me Rob and Cody Batten we looked at everything we could. I'm also wondering now of it's the motor.

    1. All runs were data logged and reviewed by us and Rob at PBD
    2. No wheel or clutch slip showed on the dyno
    3. Verified all runs to 8100
    4. full timing verified
    5. Same correction standard smoothing 5
    6. Yes advance track was disabled via the connection next to the airbox.
