9I got axle back and installed myself. Not difficult at all, but will take time depending on tools you have. Very realistic to install in one evening after work.
I'm among those who does not like to bother neighbors. I'd preffer it to sound just a tad more quiet during cold start in valve closed position. But it is ok. I expect it to quiet down as it gets some carbon deposits.
Now I realized why people want to remove infamous sound pipe.
With stock exhaust you hear mostly the pipe, with aftermarket you hear both, but they are not equivalent... its like having two exhausts that work in different ways. sound pipe volume may go up when exhaust goes down sometimes and vice versa... Long story short - I blocked the sound pipe by putting a clamp right after the intake, where the pipe is flexible after the first drive. It was that bad. Now much better. Ordered pipe removal kit, but for those of you who do not want to spend money and time on pipe removal - just blocking the pipe works pretty well. And is reversible if you decide to switch back.
I'm pretty happy with sound levels with closed valve after warmup and in all driving modes. You hear it with windows up. People around also hear it, but it does not overwhelm. Keep an option open to open the valve for some weekend fun as well.
Youtube has several clips - they are not very good as recording equipment reduces recording volume as the system gets loud, but I will not make it better.
I'm with stock resonator and plan to stay the same. No drone to my taste, but maybe I do not know what drone is. It's louder inside cabin during freeway drive versus stock plus sound pipe, but not to the point you cannot talk to passengers or experience discomfort.
Overall - reminds me flowmaster american thunder or legato axle backs - deep classy sound. But varitune gives you adjustability. Cannot compare varitune/flowmaster/legato in terms of sound levels... youtube leaves impression they are comparable.
