After driving yes, a bit below, id say 3/4s in between the etched portions of the stick
Edit to add, thats the exact same spot it was from factory
I'll take a picture tomorrow, but I gained oil......

Have changed the oil three times. 12 quarts each time and it is right where it should be on the dip stick.

Hold your horses.....

I did exactly the same thing, and it still showed about a half quart low.

Run around the track a whole bunch of times, and the oil quantity increased. I'm not talking about thermal expansion. It was a bit low at 12 qts, now it is a bit high. Id put the 11.5 qts in there.
You are correct the oil quantity increased.

I put 11.5 in it seemed low so I added another 1/4 quart still with in the range. After the first on track session checked the oil and the oil was at the high end of the dip stick.

Interesting. I think we can all agree the engine will not produce more oil, LOL. My uneducated guess would be that the oil filter paper may initially absorb oil, then through more and more heat cycles it loses its ability to absorb and displaces the oil back into the carrying volume capacity.

Not sure about the paper filter because the oil level is back to the level before the track session.

I’m not sure what the answer is.

Than the level should be the same pre track session as after track session.
I agree. But my oil level is higher now than before a track day. Normal driving will not duplicate this phenomenon.

would a thermostatic oil cooler trap any oil? Only open when the oil gets up to temp then releasing the contents in the line adding to the fill amount? Just thinking out loud.

here is a photo of what 12 qts looks like after a track day. Oil is cold, so rule that out..... the oil level is hard to see, but it is above the hole. Before the track day, it was below the top hash mark line.
